Bhutto's son Bilawal "not keen to run", PPP names him chairman of the Pakistan People's Party anyway
Two different stories out of The International News (Pakistan) today indicate that the PPP (Pakistan People's Party) seems intent on Benazir Bhutto's 19 year old son Bilawal in carrying out her mission, despite his wishes. The party named Bilawal as the new chairman in a meeting presided over by Makhdoom Fahim, deputy leader of PPP. They also named Bhutto's husband Asif Zardari as co-chairman.

Earlier, Bilawal was said to not want the chairmanship, and presumably the candidacy left vacant by his mother's assassination. “He is young and going back for the completion of his studies.” , said Sherry Rehman, a close aide of Benazir Bhutto. Rehman said that PPP couldn’t thrust party leadership on Bilawal, but that he "couldn't be ruled out".

1. "Not keen to run"? Hmm, I wonder why? Could it be that he'd rather continue his studies
to avoid being killed like his mother, two uncles and grandfather were?
Doesn't seem like a choice that would require too much thought, if you ask me.

Cake, or die, anyone?

2. Yep. Why wouldn't he be keen to run? What a mystery.

4. Awesome democracy you got there! Three cheers!
Why can't the army just hold another coup now and save everyone the trouble?
