| Stop Calling Them "Chinese" Goods!!!! |
|
Are they made in China?
Yes.
But that is where any notion of these being "Chinese" goods ends.
THESE ARE "AMERICAN" GOODS, FOLKS!!
They are designed by AMERICAN companies.
They are commissioned by AMERICAN companies.
They are sold in America by AMERICAN companies.
And AMERICAN companies reap the profits from the shoddy manufacture of AMERICAN goods made in China.
So stop giving these big companies who ship our jobs overseas, who commission and accept for sale unsafe products, this free pass.
Even if they are made somewhere else, ultimately they are AMERICAN.

The truth is that if we want higher quality to our toys, we need to put pressure on the companies outsourcing to China to stop doing it. We don't control how chinese do things and we never will, we do control how things are done in the US.

who are killing us with Lead Products, Additives of who knows what in our Vitamins and are polluting our Planet with Cheap Goods who will assure that the World's Population Declines so that the RICH OWN IT ALL!
We here on DU go on about our American Big Pharma who is using Third World Countries to experiment on, or ship their crap recalled products to.
WE ARE COMPLICIT in the KILLING. We OFFSHORED IT ALL ...and called it FREE TRADE/GLOBILIZATION that would bring FREEDOM TO THE WORLD.... AND WE ARE KILLING IT ALL FOR THE RICH EXPLOITERS!
The jobs that are produced are WALL MART JOBS...with no Labor Bargaining and no Health Insurance. It looks so "pretty" that all these Wall Marts and Shopping Centers spring up all over America under Bush and Late Clinton while 98% of all our SHOES and CLOTHING..DISHES AND APPLIANCES are MADE IN CHINA or INDONESIA with VIETNAM coming in THIRD! We got rid of polution to make these goods here in America but the FOUL AIR from NO REGULATED TOXIC GOODS comes across the Pacific from California across the Plains to the East Coast and then to Europe and back around in a vicious toxic cycle...JUST SO WE CAN BUY CHEAP..It's all about US BUYING CHEAP to keep us imprisoned into GLOBILIZATION and the TOXIC CIRCLE!
WHEN WILL THE WORLD WAKE UP...and SAY: "WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!!"

However, I think another point that I think plays heavily, is that the American manufacturers off-shoring our jobs.
They didn't want to PAY American workers a living wage. So, they downsized the work force, the top management gave themselves nice PLATINUM PARACHUTES from the "savings" of ALL those laid off workers, while doing bidness overseas with no over sight, and no regulations...
American Corporations: FREE to Pollute, FREE to exploit workers rights, FREE to use slave labor, child labor, FREE to offer us products that cheap and unregulated goods.
Go USA....

More expensive items, or less pay to make them. And I already know that this is not something people want to hear.
And one other thing, these goods are demanded by Americans. So just like the political mess we're in, WE share the blame.
I'm sure there's something important I've missed. And I'm happy to hear it. I love being wrong. Because being right about this totally sucks.
Edit- And I haven't forgotten CEO profits. I'm talking about the small stuff. Like the mountain bike I recently bought. I KNOW the guys who designed it. They live in Santa Cruz. It's a small company. We're like family. And they are not reaping huge bucks.

I recently saw this language: "American manufacturers" referring to domestic companies manufacturing here, and "foreign manufacturers" referring to corporations who manufacture in other countries. That language worked for me because I don't consider such multinational corporations American.
