Help! I'm so cut and paste challenged!

I don't have trouble with text, but everytime I try to cut and copy a picture to paste, only the post around it comes out. HOW DO YOU GUYS DO IT???!!! Thanks ahead of time.:hi:

1. Right click the image and select copy image location (if using firefox)
With IE I think you right click and select properties.

2. You have to copy the URL of the pic separately. Try this:
Put your mouse pointer over the image, click on the right mouse button, and then select either "copy image location" or, if that's not available, "properties."

If you have a "copy image location" option, the URL text will be copied when you make the selection. If you do not have a "copy image location" option, you can copy the URL text from the little screen that pops up when you select "properties."

Let me know if I can confuse you more.

3. How to link in pictures without stealing bandwidth!
How to link in pictures without stealing bandwidth!

This works for most pictures.

Say you have a picture you want to use in a posting;

http: //foobar.com/JulieNewmar.jpg

Now, if you just link it to your LJ posting, you immediately
start stealing bandwidth from foobar.com.

This is simply not a nice thing to do as some websites pay
for every byte they transfer.

If you change that URL a little;

http: //foobar.com.nyud.net:8090/JulieNewmar.jpg

It then uses a free public caching service. It gets fetched
ONCE from foobar.com, and they are not made bankrupt as each
of LJ's horny guys look at your Catwoman picture.

It helps to preview the posting before you hit post as this
gets the caching service to do the initial fetch of the
picture, which can be slow, before your posting appears to
the public. Sometimes you need to wait a few minutes and
re-preview it before everything will appear as it should, and
some web servers will not play ball with the cache, and this
is how you weed those out.

5. I knew about the bandwidth
but I didn't know about your workaround. I thought you had to open up an account on photobucket or something. Gracias!

6. A pretty good image hosting service is
http://imgred.com/

Free.

But it takes a few more steps to post an image than by just hitting "copy image location".
