| In Light of All The Drug Use Talk, Go Listen to a Song--"Methamphetamine," by Son Volt |

On their album "The Search," Son Volt wrote a hauntingly good song with incredible lyrics. Here's the first verse:
"I took the night shift Another Nickle on the Dime Try to Play it Straight And Make it Different this time Still waiting to meet the next ex-wife It's either watching these gauges for Monsanto Or a bar back job for the Casino The Army won't want me after what this body's been through.
This is what drug use does to people. It ruins lives. People are thrown in jail because they got ill--they got addicted. They are permanently barred from well-paying jobs, and forced onto the margins of society because they were ill. The ones that fight their way back into the mainstream of society after they get better are usually among the best citizens--community leaders and the heads of charitable organizations.
Anyway, give the song a listen. It's a great song. And it sums up the people that I have seen fall into this trap. It is always tragic to watch.
