News-Democrat

A Belleville man faces burglary charges after police found him inside a vacant home.

Tony Robinson, 27, of the 700 block of North Fifth Street in Belleville, was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday by a Belleville patrol officer, said Assistant Police Chief Roger Barfield.

Neighbors in the 300 block of North Second Street called police after spotting suspicious activity at a vacant house at 312 N. Second St., Barfield said. The responding officer found Robinson in the home and arrested him.

Robinson remains in the St. Clair County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

We know how to do things in Illinois. No one was shot, and the police handled it after they were called.
No Texas-style vigilante justice in Illinois.

5. While I'm glad no one got hurt, am tired of Broad Brushing
Not sure why this is newsworthy except for the few people involved. And I am tired of broadbrushing, such as "We know how to do things in Illinois. No one was shot, and the police handled it after they were called. No Texas-style vigilante justice in Illinois."

6. Well, excuse me. My purpose was to contrast what happened with Joe Horn in Texas, shooting burglars
breaking into his neighbor's house, with almost the exact same circumstnces in Illinois, where cooler heads prevailed, and the police were able to handle the situation without any bloodshed.
The Joe Horn incident was widely reported and the subject to numerous threads and comments on this site.

8. Since I read that the Texas police do not presently have him confined, for all I know
the son of a bitch could be visiting my next door neighbors. I'll be carrying a duplicate set of keys with me, and enter by the front door.

10. Contrasting reactions, pointing this out, is a good thing.
Broadbrushing a state is not. That is all.

9. But But..Lou Dobbs' poll the other day said that 93% thought
those robbers "had it comin' to them" and that bubba with the shotgun was a patriot..and in Texas it ain't agin the law to shoot two people in the back if you tell the cops you were "askeered" fur yer life..
