Anyone know if the actors will have their award shows without the writers?
Will they make up their own words for them?

1. I believe that writers can receive awards even if they are on strike
I presume you are referring to the awards that are frequently given to writers during award ceremonies for the theatrical trades.

2. My friend
wrote for the ESPY awards before he was in the Union. I don't know if they use solely union writers for the other awards.

5. At all? What are the writers for then?
Or are you talking about acceptance speeches?

9. I thought you were talking about being able to actually write words down
not necessary thoughts.

6. So you're saying that a great writer who can't act might as well go dig ditches?
Because he or she had no business on the silver screen?.

If Actors should have to write then writers will have to act.

10. Yes, the question is will the writers work for the shows. The latest is that the producers are....
...hoping the union will give the writers waivers from the strike to work (only) on the awards shows (because the awards celebrate, in part, the writers).

12. I Assume You Mean
Who will write the script for the awards show? I don't see how there will be a show without someone scripting it? As we know the award shows go on and on even with scriptwriters. If the actors are allowed to wing it, I imagine the show would go 24 hours. Remember, you must thank you dead great, great, great grandmother!
