I need to publicly apologize to Christians on this board that I offended last night.

I was really inelegant in expressing myself, regarding my own personal faith and my feelings about having fundamentalists dismiss my faith as evil.

I do not believe Christians are bad, or wrong, or anything like that at all. I just wish that my pagan faith were treated with the same respect that in most cases I give the Christian faith.

My beliefs are different. Not wrong. Just different.

I am truly sorry for my "skydaddy" rant. It was wrong, and was born of frustration.

Please forgive me.

that I think it takes a big person to apologize like that. You have my respect (for whatever that's worth!)

And I agree with your assesment of differences not having to add up to "wrong" or "right". What's right for you might not be for me, and the other way around. That doesn't make either approach necessarily less valid.

The world would be a better and far more pleasant place of more people were able to take a step back and acknowledge that they said something in anger/frustration/whatever that doesn't accurately represent what they really think/feel/believe and appologize. It's not as if most everyone hasn't been in that position at one time or another, but it takes a big person to make such a thoughtful apology.

I respect many traditions but can see the truth and fallacy within many of them.

I trust you know that Pagan etymologically initially meant "those who live beyond the authority of the patriarchy" as did "sacred."

They were simply more attuned to nature.

The Aramaic root of translation derived from the Greek is "Blessed are the meek as they will inherit the earth." That's so dismissive and repressive compared the the Aramaic version which says "Blessed are those who soften their hearts because they are open to the ways of nature."

I saw a funny expression today. It was "ROPMA." I'd never heard of it.

It stands for "Religion of Peace My Ass."

There's no offense here. :hug: Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way. Of course your faith path is just as important and deserving of respect as everyone else's faith/non-faith path. We are all searching for who we really are and what is our most authentic self. Your path may be different than mine, but that doesn't mean we can't sit and talk awhile and share some cookies. :)

25. Oh, good. I was starting to worry.

These last few days things have gotten out of hand, and I'm feeling so flustered. Normally, I'm the first person to admit that I deserve any bashing, being in the majority by choice when it comes to religion. Lately, though, I feel like a punching bag getting the stuffing knocked out in reading post after post (even in threads I thought would be relatively safe) about how stupid I must be or whatever.

Hey, I'm a Christian, for what that's worth. And sometimes I am easily offended. I can't figure it out. But I saw this on a great forum that I hang out on. And I can't stop laughing, still.
