My Candidate Sucks...
Just saving you guys the trouble....

Really though, so far I haven't picked anyone. I keep waiting for the candidate that will get people out to vote. I like Kucinich but he's not very inspiring. The others seem to be pandering and infighting. When are these candidates going to figure out that we don't need to get the "right" or the "swing voters" on our side? What we need is a candidate who will inspire people to get out and vote. If could get a 70% or god forbid a 95% (like Australia) voter turnout progressives would win every election....

1. Actually, the average voter may be more progressive than the average citizen.
1992 and 1996 were both low turnout years. Also the more informed one is, the more liberal one is likely to be. Nonvoters generally are the least informed because they are the least motivated to find stuff out.

2. I don't think that's true...
Every year is a low turnout year. We never get much more than a 50% turnout.. if we're lucky. If the polls are to be believed, only 30% of this country supports the current administration. We need a candidate that the un-informed sees as someone who has their best interest in mind. Your average person doesn't vote because all they see is politics and infighting, to them it's always the lesser of 2 evils. We need a candidate that people actually want to vote for. We also need to make voting day a holiday..

3. 92 and 96...hmmmm...
I'd say that it was informed voters who were staying away from the polls.

7. As I remember,
I thought they all sucked and didn't vote for any of them. And you know what? I was right!

6. Isn't there some kind of penalty for NOT voting in Australia?
If not Australia, then some other advanced country has such a penalty.
