with solving them but does everyone else?

edit to add: I'm not talking about media and murders they chose to cover. I'm talking about law enforcement attempting to solve every muder that occurs, most of which do not recieve any media attention.

1. The corporate media/"news" creates un-reality, and shapes public opinion according to the aims....
of the elites who own and operate it. As American fascism looms ever more omnipresent, there is naturally les and less actual objective reporting {"news"}, and so air time has to be filled with poison tabloid-esque jive in keeping with what the medium's owners have hooked their viewers on/with, as a necessary distraction {fashionable consumption} ... as most cultural pastimes within a corporate, Consumer Culture serve to do.

7. Most murders receive no media attention, some occur where there isn't any
media coverage at all. Most of the time the police find out from someone calling them.

8. Oh Jesus please-us...
Someone recently had a thread about the MSM reporting on the stereotypical "blonde haired pregnant woman missing," with the idea being, this sort of thing is used as tabloid "infotainment" in place of actual objective reporting on broader matters. When I read this person's thread, and the emphasis on the country's "obsession" with murders...

9. The obsession with solving them, law enforcement tries to solve every murder that occurs here
I just wondered if there was the same obsession with solving them everywhere.

4. Yes, the need for justice
is a human trait, practiced by most countries on the planet.

11. Is it "solving" murders that we are obsessed with?
Or is it making sure "someone" pays? I don't think that finding the truth of a case is as important to prosecutors as is getting a conviction.
Maybe in some other countries there is an effort to get to the truth rather than just putting someone away.

13. Most crimes go unsolved
The hope that the presence of brutal prisons will deter law violators is as old as the invention of the prison itself. Contemporary supporters of longer sentences argue that longer and harsher punishments are necessary to deter crime by making criminals think twice before committing another crime. This notion simplifies and distorts the dynamics of criminal behavior. When most people commit a crime, they correctly believe that they will not be caught. According to NCVS surveys, about 60% of all crimes are not reported to police. The FBI reports that 4.6 million arrests were made for property or violent crimes, a number representing only 19% of the reported victimizations. State and federal courts dealing with serious felony crimes produce about one million convictionsof which 68% result in a prison or jail sentence. Therefore, as illustrated in Table 5, the immediate chances of being arrested, convicted, and sentenced to jail or prison are quite small. (p. 14)

14. I believe the 60%, I'd believe it if the report said it was higher, I've never reported a crime to

anyone.

15. It's the MEDIA obsessing, not the Public.
Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 10:25 AM by AlertLurker
The Bush Administration has been BRUTAL on blondes over the past six years. I am surprised no one else has made the connection.

Every time DimSon or one of his cabal commit a capital crime, they have to send the CIA out on a "black ops" mission to "disappear" another blond girl (sometimes it's a black girl, but only if she is an honour student or college scholarship recipient) - preferably in a foreign country. Then they send in the media to stir up resentment against that nation or the kidnapper/murderer. It's all part of the "Two-Minute Hate."

It's all quite simple, really.

18. In developed countries, I'd say yes
They've just charged someone in Britain over a murder 15 years ago, for instance:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7117564.stm

And the murder of Stephen Lawrence 14 years ago is still under investigation:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lawrence/Story/0,,2208162,00....

And they dug up a garden in Kent, and found 2 bodies of girls who disappeared in the early 1990s:
