HUFFINGTON POST: NY TIMES & LA TIMES SITTING ON "BIG CLINTON STORY" - BILL'S MANY RECENT AFFAIRS
Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 08:14 AM by Dems Will Win

This is a major question with Mrs. Clinton's candidacy: can Bill keep his pants zipped until the voting is over?? Huffington Post now reveals that the NY Times and the LA Times are sitting on a "Big Clinton Story", that Bill has been having multiple affairs since 2001.

If the papers are sitting on the story, so they can break it after Clinton has the nom sewed up, they are subverting the electoral process, as other candidates not have these types of problems and would obviously walk away with the primaries if it was thought Bill would continue to bring the Democrats down because he can't keep his pants zipped.

Of course the main reason we have George Bush as President today is because Bill couldn't keep his pants zipped, so we know how Clinton affairs help Repukes at the ballot box.

Does anybody really think Bill stayed at home and walked the dog all this time? I don't and this perception will ruin Hillary for the purple states in November if it proved true.

I don't trust Bill to keep his pants zipped for the next 8 years, do you? What would be the consequences if it came out during the election? Rudy would likely be the next Prez -- even with all of HIS multiple affairs!

If this story does come out in the next couple of weeks, Mrs. Clinton cannot win the primaries, if it does come out in the middle of '08, she will not be able to take the Presidency back -- and that likely means the end of America and the world as we know it (anybody care to argue that point?).

This is my main worry about Mrs. Clinton -- Mr. Clinton! And I was always very concerned that the papers might have Bill's affairs all typeset and ready to go -- and now it looks like they do.

Either release the story or fully deny it, NY TImes and LA Times, we Dems need to know the truth about our candidates BEFORE the primary not AFTER.

Obviously, even though Bill survived the impeachment over Monica, Hillary would not survive more affairs in an election year. This is very threatening for the future of the Democratic Party. Why would we want to hang the fate of the world on whether or not Bill can keep his pants zipped. We already know he's got a real problem there and Edwards nor Obama -- and certainly Kucinich -- do not.

So Bill is her biggest asset and her biggest potential threat. Either deny or out with the story! No more electoral manipulation by the press!

The Big Clinton Story
Posted November 27, 2007 |

Look, I am concerned. I've just spent two weeks travelling and speaking with media elites in L.A., Chicago, NYC, and D.C. and among other things, I was repeatedly told that The New York Times and The L.A. Times are "sitting on a BIG Clinton story." What concerns me is that this story has nothing to do with Hillary, her policy positions, her record, or her presidential potential. The "big story" everyone is sitting on apparently has to do with the many current affairs of Bill Clinton, whom, they will allege, has a gal in every port. I know, I know, you roll your eyes, you yawn, you wonder how anyone could possibly care about such things, true or not, when there is so much at stake in this upcoming election. But then you see what is going on with today's Trent Lott/gay hustler rumors, this week's Hillary /lesbian aide rumors, and you remember that the ghost of Karl Rove still haunts us.

I am concerned not for the welfare of Senator Clinton's campaign, but for our election cycles, which have turned into the same bipolar gossip cycles of the newsstand tabloids. I worry that these news organizations are sitting on the story for the wrong reasons, waiting for the moment of maximum impact for such drivel. For some reason, hearing about this dusty-sounding rumor-story raised a red flag for me that we may not have come as far as I'd hoped since 2004. I see the same gay-baiting, underhanded political tricks, the Obama/Osama slurs, and it reminds me that like many of the online communities I surf, I live in a media-elite bubble where we forget that the vast majority of people get their political news from network television, which in turn culls it from the ever diminishing journalistic resources of the ever consolidating, ever partisan print media, which most definitely has skin in the game this time around... which is terrifying.

And I thought the Florida recount/supreme court fiasco and the constant negative reporting on Al Gore were the reasons. Silly me.

And Florida wasn't quite as close as people were led to believe, if all the votes cast had been counted. But Gore won popular vote in US. Apparently the nation as a whole wasn't concerned about Clinton's zipper when it came to voting for Gore.

98. Oh, DAMN, those pesky little facts!!!
One has to wonder why and how someone would still be mouthing THE OUTRIGHT FUCKING LIE that President Gore lost because of Clinton's affair(s). The Consortium that analyzed the 2000 (S)election reached the conclusion that if all the votes were counted, GORE WON! Period. And once all the rethuglican dirty tricks are factored in--voter purging, disenfranchisement, Harris & bush*--it is OBVIOUS that President Gore won handily, lawfully and legally.

74. Gore DID win big-bu$h stole the election, and the Clintons remained silent because
Gore had broken away from the DLC philosophy to become a populist:

FIRST..GORE BROKE WITH THE DLC TO BECOME A POPULIST:

Published on Sunday, August 20. 2000 in the Boston Globe
Thank You, Al Gore
by Robert Kuttner
A funny thing happened to Al Gore on the way to his surprisingly effective acceptance speech. He became a liberal.

The speech was as liberal as anything FDR or LBJ or Jesse Jackson or one of the Kennedys might have delivered. It was built around a commitment to fight for ordinary people, against large and powerful interests. This, of course, is precisely what made it effective.

The emotional heart of the speech, Gore's honoring of four ordinary American lives, did not just salute the struggles of workaday families, the way Ronald Reagan often did. It identified who was dishonoring their struggles - corporations. He singled out heartless HMOs who pressure a family to sacrifice a child; drug companies that force a pensioner to choose between food and medicine; corporate polluters; corporations that pay workers inadequate wages.

And he identified the solution: strong, reliable public Social Security; better Medicare; welfare reform that rewards work rather than punishing the needy; higher minimum wages; and more investment in public - not voucher - schools, so that working families don't have to send kids to crumbling classrooms.

What is the evil? Corporate power. What is the remedy? Effective government.

SECOND, AFTER GORE'S WIN THEY BLAME HIS 'LOSS' ON BREAKING WITH THE DLC:

Strange Theory on Why Gore Lost

The so-called Democratic Leadership Council has decided that Al Gore should have acted more like a Republican in order to win the 2000 presidential electoral college vote in addition to his nationwide popular vote victory. This strange finding has drawn some attention, including coverage by the Associated Press and the Environmental News Service -- we have a few excerpts from their reports for you here.
Al Gore, the self-styled environmental candidate in the 2000 Presidential election, lost his bid for the White House because he campaigned on an outdated "populist" platform that was too liberal for most Americans, according to a new report drafted by the Democratic Leadership Council.

The 40-page report, titled "Why Gore Lost, And How Democrats Can Come Back," concludes that the Democratic Party must move towards the political right -- towards the Republicans -- if it wants to regain control of Congress in 2002 and the White House in 2004.

Al From, the DLC's founder and CEO, opened a freewheeling discussion forum by arguing that Democrat Al Gore made a huge tactical mistake by continually emphasizing that he would "fight for the people and not the powerful" as the nation's first president of the 21st Century.

197. I'm with you - RNC stole that election for Bush and DNC let them do it -
and since 1993 the head of the DNC has always been acting under Bill Clinton's direction.

So how did that turn out for us in 2000? 2002? 2004?

We had to fight and get Dean in from the grassroots so we could effect change in our elections and their security from Republican tricks. After 2006 we had TeamClinton trying to get Dean dumped.

They are NOT our leaders - we do not follow their brand of corporatist calculations.

From the outside, it seems like nothing more then a marriage of political convenience. Why else would Hillary stay with a man who has admittedly cheated on her repeatedly.

That being said, it is none of our fucking business anyway.

But your right, if any of this additional fooling around is true - folks would question Hillary's motives. Guilt by association may not be fair, tho thats politics.

On Edit: Regardless of Bill's personal life - I have always had great admiration for his presidency. Too bad he let his dick control his head - if he had been a little more discreet or simply smart - Shrub would be playing baseball in Texas.

204. No. If I were a Hillary supporter I'd continue in my support of her because
I would have come to her camp based on how I felt about HER.

I've never liked Bill anyway, so what he does now wouldn't have any impact on my choice of a candidate.

But that's just me. There are others to whom this WOULD make a difference.

64. What I heard months ago was
the story was held up for two reasons.

1. It wasn't news since everyone already knew Clinton had a series of affairs.

2. Clinton wasn't the candidate.

That was just some talking heads on one of the political discussion shows from months ago. Don't know if there is any truth to any of it.

get her to the WH. Many people thing they'll be getting a two-fer by voting for her. His experience, brains etc. I for one could care less who he screws but do care about the damage he does to our country as long as there are right fundies out there waiting to pounce.

I wouldn't vote for HRC in the primary for any reason. Don't like her, think she's bush-lite in a skirt. We'll end up with more of the same - wars, corporate bullshit allowed, etc. And I was one of the original feminists. As thought I'd be thrilled when we finally had a woman running for our highest office. Instead, my hopes were dashed by someone of her ilk being the one.

Flame away but that's my true feelings.

All her cheery corporate media support will evaporate exactly 5 minutes after she wins the nomination. They want to sell her now because they can demolish her easily later on.

Reporting wars and a ruined economy is no fun. It takes work...requires asking tough questions and intelligent analysis. The Clenis is simple, easy to play with and always draws a crowd. You tell me what the corporate media would rather "report on".

What I find amusing is Bill is now 60+...and while it's the "new 40", this man has also undergone radical bypass surgery and still lives under cameras and heavy media scrutiny. I'd say if the man can still carry on all the "affairs" accredited to him I think he'd be worn to a frazzle.

Best this crap gets out now and either becomes Hillary's alabross or people blow past this crap like they have the "draft dodger" and "pot smoker" stage. Here's hoping they've gone to the well one too many times here. Don't they have another OJ trial or Natalie Hollway to go chase after???

97. Damned If She Did, Damned If She Didn't
Why a person's libido has any merit on their credentials for this job is and has been beyond me...other than to distract.

I personally haven't cared about the Clinton's private lives and the less I know the better. The same goes for any other public figure. The exceptions are the hypocrites who cross that line and then are exposed.

What Hillary decides about her marriage and her relationship is none of anyone's business. This has ZERO berring on how she deals with issues or how she'll affect change. It has ZERO to do with Iraq, an economy and middle class in shambles, a health care system in crisis, educational system that's a disgrace and many more important issues.

So...if Hillary divorces Bill this makes her more "electable"? How shallow is that? How about those of us who respect her for working out the problems in their relationship and surviving despite all the negative publicity they've had to endure over the years.

the fact that he had a gay man come into the white house pretending to be a journalist, every illegal reprehensible thing Bush did and does to the Constitution, and yet they are waiting to run the Clinton's husband having affairs stories?

And Huffington Post instead of calling the media on their obvious double standard--is running the story. Lovely.

This sort of focus on trivial garbage like this is part of the reason why the political system in this country is in such shambles. The Britney/K-Fedization of politics..

As far as anyone knows (or cares) that jackass in the Whitehouse has been faithful to Laura and yet he is pretty much the worst thing to happen to this country since Raygun. Who cares about this gossipy nonsense..?

If the NYT and LAT are "sitting" on this "story", imo they should continue to do so and *gasp* maybe even do something about covering actual news.

because Cables and Networks have cut their staff back to bare bones. We have less discussion and more dictatorial pronouncements along with chatty, gossipy fests that are designed to obscure issues or spin them for the various political ops.

I can't understand why the Clintons didn't think this would come up (whether the LAT's is sitting on a real story or not). What were they thinking? That the MSM/RW/Clinton haters would give them a pass? Also what about many of us Dems who are sick of defending Bill? We've had enough and his policies look worse in hindsight than many of us knew when we gave him that 60% approval rate when the Repugs were impeaching him.

Let's see, perhaps Hillary's aikido moves with Murdoch, the Bushes, and other former adversaries was their attempt to undercut future attacks.

I think it was quite stupid on their part if they thought it would work. Hell, even I know the chance to revist the Greatest Hits of Bill and Hillary Clinton would be far too delicious an opportunity for the media to pass on.

So many here are complaining, "Not this shit again!" about the media's obsession with the Clenis. Well, as one of the first signers of the original MoveOn petition against the impeachment and a fierce defender of the Clintons during that time, I find myself saying, "Not this shit again!" about the idea of Bill Clinton fucking around while his wife is trying to win the White House.

If -- and note, I say if -- this is true, it needs to come out right now and Hillary needs to succeed or fail in the primary with this knowledge in the public view.

in a restroom is let go by the press? He didn't even have to resign. A guy who visited hookers and wore diapers is OK also. And there are so many damn perverted sex stories and actions by the republicans in office you have forgotten them, but something that happened sixteen or more years ago, something that was by consent, and not against the law, by two adults is REAL LIVE NEWS. And the fact that that man who is not running for president, whose wife is, would be the cause of mayor disgrace in the press.

I suppose they MSM has finally broke the swift boat subject that the republicans want them to slur, bash, slam, flame Hillary Clinton with.

By the way how come the press didn't slur, bash, slam and flame Laura Bush for being tipsy and killing someone 30 years ago or more. WHAT WHAT THAT'S OK, CAUSE IT WAS LAURA AND SHE WAS ONLY DRUNK, AND SHE ONLY KILLED SOMEONE.

did go easy on Larry Craig, didn't they? He plays footsie with an undercover cop, pleads guilty to a disorderly conduct charge, no press coverage for a month, then, when he's found out, announces he will resign.....then announces he's changed his mind and he's going to stay in the Senate.....and the media and repuke leadership don't say another word about it.....like it never even happened.

Imagine a Dem in similar circumstances. A solicitation charge. Immediate 24/7 news coverage followed by a same day resignation that sticks. Continued coverage for weeks afterward with talking heads pontificating on how the situation hurts the Dems.

And how many people in this country have ever even heard that Laura Bush was driving a car that ran a stop sign and killed somebody? The whores have avoided that one like the plague. If Hillary had been in an accident where someone suffered a cut finger there isn't a person in this country who wouldn't know every minute detail.

He certainly deserves it. We all do.

The other night, Sweetie and I saw a rerun of Bill on Letterman. He looked fit and relaxed and Sweetie said she thought he looked great these days. He's funny and articulate and has a great smile and laugh. I commented that he seemed like he's been getting laid lately. Sweetie asked me if she ever had an opportunity to sleep with him, if it would be OK with me. I said, absolutely - go for it!

The point is - in my mind this is the proper attitude about things like this. I don't understand these prune-farts that call themselves human beings who think that a healthy, powerful, articulate and attractive person getting laid is somehow a wrong thing. Sex is food. You need a steady diet, and an occasional treat. If you starve, you loose your mind. I guess that's the problem. All of those idiots are starving and crazy. ....I am no Hillary fan, but I think anyone who runs stories like this are idiots ~ and the people who read them and consider them somehow "relevant" to whether or not people can do a job are just plain fools.

Hillary Clinton is married to a VERY popular man and she know it. She has had to become strong enough to overcome all the crap before. She also must be comfortable with her marriage as it is and finds some peace in it. Lots of presidents before Bill were unfaithful. My father-in-law told about Eisenhower holed up in a mountain chalet in France with a pretty little thing while his troups invaded Germany, Jefferson had his paramour with his slave Mary who was more than a slave, she was his long time companion, Johnson, Kennedy, Truman, Nixon, they all had side affairs. Their wives still remained friends with their husbands and found some mutual grounds to remain with their husbands.

These keyhole peepers who have to know practically when/where/how someone takes a crap are not talking about the things that matter. One time a man hit on me who was married when I was younger. I asked him how his wife would feel about this. He said, "She knows my ways ..." I told him, "Yeah she may know your ways, but I respect her too much to do this to her ..." His wife was a powerful woman within his community as was he. I am sure they had an "arrangement" but I was not going to be part of it. I knew she deserved better than the embarrassment of having to pretend she did not know what an asshat he is/was as far as his libido was concerned. But it had nothing to do about how "moral" she was to put up with it or he to do what he did, and I am sure they were content as it was. It had to do with this woman's beautiful self who deserved my respect. They are still married btw, and they raised 4 beautiful kids, and she still has my respect ~ more now than ever because she knows herself and what is important to her and it has little to do with how her husband behaves, it has to do with who she is and it was not all about sex, it is about herself.

I suspect Hillary is in much the same position as my friend's with her husband and I respect her strength for surviving it and coming out a powerful person herself. She did not let it crush her, she stood above it and whatever arrangement she and Bill have is not my affair (pun included).

My 2 cents

losing the November election. Hillary is too risky to vote for, the problem with Bill was always reason Number One not to vote for her, because of his prediliction.

Now it appears to be about to come out. Better now than later!

I don't doubt that Hillary would know if this is true or not. I also don't doubt that she puts her ambitions ahead of herself. She will stay with bill until she's elected to her second term or until everyone finds out. Hillary would look like a fool and a sucker if she kept Bill around. She would not be able to campaign with him. Her best tract would be a public separation, otherwise it would probably hurt her in the polls.

Like I said earlier, I can't imagine this is true.

60. If the Clinton campaign really feel slighted, they could always come out with a statement like this:
Look, Hillary is married to a man many women think is the sexiest
man to have been president since JFK. Arianna Huffington was married
to a guy who spent multimillions of his own money on a Senate race in
a year, 1994, when it seemed that any Republican could win a congressional
seat, and still lost. Worse yet, he has since come out (he was gay the whole
time, a fact that might not have gone down well with the then-Mrs. Huffington,
namely Arianna).

I like Arianna but she has no business letting this get personal.

Indeed, read what she had to say about personal affairs not being relevant
to politics, and see how that jives with this current issue:

It leaves an awful lot of time between the primaries and the convention for something to happen that would destroy the candidacy of a nominee before they're even nominated. But perhaps it might open the door for an Al Gore or some other candidate.

Why would she take a look at her horny hound-dog husband and think that she would even stand a chance, after all the scandal that nearly ended his Presidency and brought us the mega-disaster of Chimpy? Who in their right minds would vote for her, if this came out as true--does ANYONE want to relive the sordid, embarrassing prying into his peccadilloes and their marriage? Good grief, I hope this rumor goes away. And if it doesn't, and we still nominate her instead of Obama, Edwards, or Biden, we deserve EXACTLY what we get come January '09.

89. Wait a minute!!!
Whatever happened to family values?

What about "stand by your man?"

I just don't get it. Why are "they" all up in arms about Hillary Clinton staying with her husband even though he allegedly cheats on her?

Its OK if you have divorced a couple of wives - who you cheated on. That's A-OK.

Its OK if your husband is found to be "making connections" in airport restrooms - lady, you stay with that guy!

Its OK if you like VERY young men and you use your position of power to "get close to them." Honey, don't DARE leave THAT prize.

Why is it perfectly OK for a Republican woman to forgive HER husband of his indescretions - not JUST OK - its downright CHRISTIAN of her, but, Hillary should NEVER, EVER forgive Bill.

Why do I need to know about the intimate relationships of the candidates and their spouses, anyway? What does it really have to do with running the country?

100. On a totally different tack
what is the consequence of Bill making himself or being perceived as a "co-President"? If Hillary is already cooing over sending powell hither and thither, possibly telling the truth without invasions this time, what of the humongously lopsided role Bill is likely to have? I am not talking about how this subtly sells voters on Hillary the first woman or accidental puppet whose ball and chain is the irrepressible power of her mate. I am talking about the extreme governance problems that the dumbest enemies will have no problem playing against her administration. This is a relationship out of whack due to the experience of the husband and his relationship to just about everything, never mind the occasional
skirt.

Again, what seems a plus in the primaries due to the convenient lack of presentation by the press can just as easily be turned against both of them anytime. It is an imbalanced, hardwired competitive relationship, not just the first woman president that actually will assume the throne that Bush built. With all the other problems, the advantages simply create larger problems that could dwarf and confuse everything, good intentions, good results notwithstanding. The whole idea of a first lady having experience gets tipped into the Potomac by the presence of the former popular and ambassador to the world husband- who has already granted Bush II a benevolent pardon.

128. Minus all speculation
what will happen regardless seems rock solid. Bush and likely most of his team will face no pursuit whatsoever for anything. If someone in Congress in crush of dealing otherwise with the mess tries to bring it up they will have no support and a lot of resistance, this time entirely from their own executive and their own legislative leaders, "too busy" to persecute a legitimate, departed executive. we liked to pretend that the thrust of the 2006 Congress would suddenly turn to impeachment, peace, etc, but it too was set in stone. No matter how many new progressives were added they couldn't be enough and that number was suppressed to some extent by the party itself.

With the Clintons were are talking about one or two people that already are semaphoring clear consistent signals that defy their own experience and "lessons" to simply forge ahead with DLC blinders and shut down any movement of the party to the contrary. Not surprisingly the large star-like egos of pols are as resistant to wise change as punch drunk boxing champions are to quit while they still have a functioning brain. People can try to remember and point out the good things- which are the least likely to repeat because- incredibly- all the bad things are back and in full blown denial. Who in their right minds would vote nostalgia in a crisis? Only people with no other choice or hope such as those voting for the widow of a slain candidate(Philippines). Of course the problem is that the typical American judgment is systematically foiled, drugged and sidelined.

110. I thought it was the OTHER Clinton sex scandal -- Hillary's lesbian Muslim sex scandal
This is why I hate the idea of a Clinton nomination. Anyone who says that all the Clinton dirty laundry has been aired is kidding himself.

After the nomination, Hillary will be swift boated with a sex scandal herself -- that she is sleeping with her "body person," her closest personal aid, Huma Abedin, who also happens to be of Pakistani Muslim descent, raised in Saudi Arabia and the daughter of an Islamic scholar.

Some liberal bloggers who have mentioned it have said Huma is so competent and beautiful that it only shows Hillary's good taste and judgement. Bullshit. I certainly fully support complete human rights for gays and lesbians, but whether this rumor is true or not, whether you support human rights or not, this can be swiftboated in a way that will lose Ohio, Pennsylvania and other swing states where the hint of a lesbian relationship with the daughter of an Islamic scholar will be catastrophic.

the Huma story coming and gotten Huma another job in the campaign that was less visible. The Observer story is from last Spring...so Penn and the others knew that the Pakistani/Muslim/Saudi Arabian 'personal aid' could blow up at any time. Whether there's another part to the story or not...the fact that Huma's own background is so strange and the relationship so close that whether sexual or not...there are questions that any of us would ask if it were another candidate either Dem or Repug who had such a close personal advisor.

BTW...the cameras focused on Huma after the CNN debate...she was very visible as the only "Personal Assistant" of the Candidates on state when the post debate handshaking with the audience was going on. The camera actually had to focus to the right a bit and lingered. Said to me that someone knew something that the camera made sure to pan over a bit to show Huma.

Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 10:36 AM by HamdenRice
The issue isn't even whether Hillary and Huma are lovers. It's whether the circumstances can be spun by a salacious, hostile, biased media and swiftboating, Rove-taught repug party into a Huma-Hillary lesbian Muslim relationship.

And the obvious answer is yes. But it will happen AFTER Hillary gets the nomination (if she gets it), of course.

Hillary is dead in the water against any repug. What polls show now is irrelevant. It's what polls will show after the Fox led 24 hour news cycle has plastered Hillary-Huma love nest stories across America 24-7-365 in the months before election day.

I've never figured out why she and Bill decided to go for it...unless they thought they had managed to get Poppy Bush and his crowd plus Murdoch on their side...so they would be left untouched. The "machine" would shut down all gossip or harsh stories about Clintons and they would win with overwhelming support from Repugs and Indies along with Dems. That seems hard to believe that both could be hoodwinked like that knowing that Bush Family would want to repair the damage the Chimperor has done with a Jeb in the wings and so not want to take a chance with a two-term Clinton II.

The Clintons are both very smart people....how would they let themselves get hoodwinked like that?

24/7. Day in and day out. Ad nauseum.

So I don't want to hear any damn whining from you about it should it happen.

Because there are a bunch of us here who will sit back with our arms crossed and say, "We told you so."

Wasn't there some mention earlier of the LA Times having an unreleased story that regarded a current presidential hopeful?

I'm just going to sit here and hope this is false information. If it's not I don't even want to imagine what damage this could do to the country if it were to turn out to be true and not be released until after the primaries.

I think its pathetic some people have to bash President Clinton because they don't like Hillary. Honestly, watching us eat our own is just sickening. Given all the current sex scandals of republicans, I think their holier than thou routine is getting old. Reagan was the 1st divorced president, for heavens sake. So much for "family values". You don't like Hillary...fine, but is it really necessary to spread rumors? As for President Clinton causing Gore to lose...well he didnt "lose" to begin with and Gore would have won an even bigger margain, had he not distanced himself from Clinton who had a 70% + approval rating at the end of his term. Both Gore & Kerry should have really gone after bush, taken off the gloves, they were too nice. I have no favorites in this race, as of yet, but watching democrats bash each other is like doing a republicans job for them. I wish this would stop.

I doubt anyone can beat HRC. I would love to see a liberal progressive movement take place in America. If we need another 8 years of neo-con rule to move the sheeple to the left, then so be it.

So HRC or some other neo-con will be in the White House. This is what America deserves.

But on 1-20-09 a liberal progressive will not be in the white house. A free trade, pro drug war, pro Iraq war, pro PATRIOT act, pro-bankruptcy 'reform', pro- HAVA, pro NCLB, pro invading Iran president will be sworn into office.

It would be nice if it was Richardson or Edwards (or Obama). I can barely deal with HRC, Romney, Huckabee or Ghouliani. I really don't want McCain or Thompson.

But a real move away from the far right is not in the cards for 2009. Perhaps another 8 years of endless war and fear will move the sheeple to the left.

145.  It's not the sex, it's the lying

"Mr. Clinton plummeted in the polls, so in an effort to salvage his campaign, he took the risky step of doing an interview on 60 Minutes in front of a huge audience right after the 1992 Super Bowl. During his interview with Correspondent Steve Kroft, Mr. Clinton, who was joined by his wife Hillary, denied ever having an affair with Flowers.

It took years for Mr. Clinton to admit that he was lying in that interview, and that he once had a relationship with Flowers. Even though the interview rejuvenated his campaign, he writes in his book that he was so furious at Kroft for prying into his personal life that he wanted to slug him.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/06/01/60minutes/mai...

He lied to us before the election, he lied to us during his presidency and he is still lying. If he only lied about sex, that might be acceptable, but he lies whenever it suits him:

Big Dog: "I opposed Iraq from the beginning." (not true, of course)

Brace Yourself Hillary! Here is a Question You Will Definitely Be Asked In Public...

"Has Bill Clinton been engaging in extra-marital affairs since he left the White House? And If The Answer is Yes, Did You Know About These Affairs?"

She better be ready because it is rolling down the tracks with a full head of steam.

It will be 'fish or cut bait' time for Hillary -- cut Bill loose and say she is her own woman, and will make her own decisions as President OR stand behind him and say she and Bill live separately apart and lead separate lives OR deny knowledge of the affairs.

Of course there is one other course of action for her --but that would involve a frying pan and Bill's head.

a Right Wing smear attack with no absolutely no truth to it. I get the feeling that's what she truly believed at the time. IF this becomes an issue, I hope she's not as quick to dismiss it and accuse the other side -- that might be an indication that she's unwilling to deeply look into an issue she just doesn't want to be true or to deal with.

That was about the only good thing to come out of it -- his taste in women. Monica was attractive in a zaftig kind of way.

I actually thought Jennifer Flowers was a good match for him. She actually was talented; she was discreet; she was his body type.

She would have made a perfect mistress for the long term. Obviously it's a compulsion for him, not a search for a real companion.

because lots of people thought that "Bill/Monica" was a "ONE Time Thing" and that when Bill met with Billy Graham he worked out his problem with that and would NEVER do anything like that again that shamed a nation that he would do this in a side chamber of the Oval Office...right there. It was a complete "acting out of Power" by Bill...and we hoped he'd been shamed about this.

If he's doing other stuff...then what are we to think but that Hillary is some Royalty who accepts that her husband will always have mistresses while she get's her POWER from his charisma and royalty on the world stage.

The trouble for Hillary is that when it comes to sex rumors she and her husband (unlike, say, John Edwards and his wife) have no credibility. They threw that away when the philandering charges they righteously denounced in 1992 and 1998 turned out to be basically true.

Even smart people can be delusional. I strongly suspect the Bill Clinton has made deals with the Bush
Crime Family & Murdoch & other Rwingers that if Sen. Clinton garners the Pres. that she will not take any action against Busholini. That will not stop the US Corp Media from going full out against her with everything that can be dredged up. Whether any of this is true or not will not matter. Perception is everything. Dems may over look almost anything but the Moderate Repugs & Independent Voters will not. It will be a disaster.

'Triangulation' never works when it comes to matters of character and moral failing, it just drags it out for more speculation and attention.

There is no doubt she can get the truth about the rumors, if she does not know already. And any attempt to delay addressing it while 'she investigates' the matter will be deadly.

She needs to address it head on, reject it as inappropriate behavior if there is any substance to the rumors, announce she will take it up with Bill within the private relationship they share as husband and wife, and now she is moving on with her campaign for the good of the American people.

Anything less and she will be hounded mercilessly about it by the MSM throughout the Primaries and the General Election if she becomes the DEM Party Nominee.

TODAY's Open Heart Surgery encourages running several miles a day...on a treadmill or roadwork...and having an active sexlife as GOOD FOR HEART FUNCTION! A glass of Red Wine with low fat foods and a Statin Drug make one's life even BETTER than before....

Those new Artery Ties on your heart give you RENEWED VIGOR! NO Viagra needed..... You are as good as new and you need to do a vigorous exercise routine regularly so that your numbers jive with what your Cardiac Surgeon and GP are expecting when one has their bloodwork done.

Today's Cardiac Patient isn't your "old" Cardiac Patient. Look at Dick Cheney...who is a walking, living "Medical Wonder" if you don't believe how times have changed.

Sen. Clinton cannot win the Pres. job without Moderate Repugs & Indie Voters. I feel that she will lose if nominated.

215. It would be great if Bill were fooling around. For him and for us.
Edited on Wed Nov-28-07 07:34 PM by Tactical Progressive
For one thing, it would shove sex right in the right-wing's putrid face. Fuck them.
They'll come unhinged. OK, they're already unhinged - this will showcase it.

For another, it would show that Bill didn't really give a shit about the Publican and the media's despicable, and unconstitutional by the way, shaming. What a bunch of traitors to America both Publicans and American 'journalism' had shown themselves to be. Like it's their job, their right, to enforce their sexual predispositions on America by abusing the Constitution. To me this would be the best aspect of all.

For yet another, it would seem so trivial now, even more trivial than it was then, that it will make the Publican-Media impeachment look all the more distasteful, wrong and unconstitutional than it did back then. And the assholes that did it like even bigger assholes than they did back then. Though still not looking as assholeish as they really are. We can always use better perspective on that whole debacle.

And frankly, I'd love to have this fight again. Ten years ago some of us on the net were down in the dirt with the disgusting right wing and the media which had chosen by then to be rightwing as an institution. There were alot of us, but still outnumbered given both the media's partisan efforts and the Publican penchant to get involved exactly when they get the upper hand. And viciously too, which you already know. The other side of that coin is where they cower and withdraw, like the true cowards that they are, when they're being beaten. But they weren't being beaten then, with the media supporting their jihad all the way, and with the internet not yet mainstreamed, so it was pretty lopsided. Also, many Democrats turned out to be fair-weather Dems, who were embarrassed by Bill's actions; who bought into the entire beltway establishment shaming led by people like Broder and Quinn. They didn't want to defend Bill or the Constitution. So very many Dems are just, disgustingly, not team players, and equally disgustingly, cowering prudes when it comes to right wing attempts to shame, be it sexually, or morally, or for national security (you wouldn't waterboard to protect the children!!!???) or whatever.

But now it's a different environment. I'd love nothing better than to refight this fight in the new internet and blog environment where Dems finally have the confidence to assert themselves and the media can't just block them. I think Republicans, and the media, would be ripped to shreds now, and deservingly so.

Oh, and lastly, America needs to grow up. Revisiting this chapter, without our depraved media writing the script in rightwing font, would help.

In short: Fuck you, Constitution-abusing traitors on the right and in the media. People who fool around have more morals and ethics than you'll ever have, so bring it. We'll make a mockery of you and your self-aggrandizing morals you filthy pigs. America has grown up and we see you whores for what you are.

And as far as Hillary and the election - if Rudy turns out to be the Publican candidate, all that Hillary has to say is:
'At least Bill isn't bringing his flings home to live with us.'

BOOM!!!

This is all assuming there is any credibility to this story, and I don't believe that there is any just for the record. I wish there was.

216. What if Mrs. Clinton is just fine with it? Or at peace with it?
I don't get why in the world this is a problem. It's between them -- for her, it certainly might be a problem. But how does this affect her candidacy, exactly? Her ability to govern?

I'm not a big Hillary Clinton fan, myself. I'm hoping someone, anyone else wins in Iowa, because I'd like this to actually be a race until a few more of us get a vote. But I don't get this stuff wherein she's seen as having moral failings because her husband behaves badly.

217. Only because that's what the right wing would want
and what the right wants the media provides.

You are 100% correct. I'm just answering your question of why it would be a problem.

221. Ugh who cares
I wish Bill would have been more open in his presidency and told the American people that these are his own personal matters and they do not pertain to his ability to perform as the head of state. I'm going to fucking explode if this comes roaring back and mistakenly sways enough voters to let the pigs win again.

224. Most people don't care at this point...
gossip about Bill is just soap opera and ignored by many. The public seem to ignore scandals with pages, bathroom antics in the airport, etc. Our own congress ignores torture, breaking the law and impeachable offenses. Half the elections are manipulated. Who cares if he's having another fling? Are you surprised?

we want to see a Dem in the White House in 2009.

244. Talk about completely missing the point. Jeesh.
The point is that the RNC (not loathe to stooping to using Rove or Rovian tactics) will do whatever it thinks it takes to take Hillary down, including all kinds of unimaginable smears. If she thought Kerry got sucker-punched by the Swift Boat Liars, then she shouldn't be in the ring, because they're going to break all the rules and come at her from all kinds of both expected and unexpected directions. They still haven't forgiven Bill for beating Pappy in '92 and she's been their favorite target since she got her Senate seat.

234. I care

I didn't believe the initial stories about Monica. I really didn't. I was stunned to learn they were true. Do I think he should've been impeached for it -- no. But I'm equally tired of the old "He just had sex..." line. Bullshit. He showed lack of judgment, disrespect for his family, and on and on.

Plus, I just don't feel like dealing with this crap again. It'll be all Monica all the time in the media. It would be nice to move on, but that won't happen with the poor excuse for a media we've got now.

I don't know if Bill's a sex addict -- and that's not for me or Gerald Ford to decide. The thing is, if Bill can't be discreet, he needs to go away -- leave public life and shut up about his supposed morals and philanthropy (i.e. recent "Giving" book). Enough already!

If we're bashing Rudy for his indiscretions, wives, cousins, cross-dressing -- than why is Bill given a free ride?

If we're going to judge the prospective "first ladies," why not the prospective "first gentleman?"

I just think there's more to discuss. And I think we should give a fuck.

233. I'm willing to bet there is no 'BIG Clinton story'
Never was, never will be. Nobody's "sitting on" anything.

Rather, what the HuffPo blogger heard "media elites" talking about was a red herring, a whisper campaign.

There doesn't need to be "a BIG Clinton story," because all it takes are rumors of one to set the Sunday-morning pundits' tongues a-waggin', thus doing virtually the same damage.

"Mrs. Clinton, can you comment?"

"Mrs. Clinton refused comment."

"Clinton is covering for her philandering husband."

"The Clinton candidacy is in a shambles."

We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing
When it's said and done, we haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry

237. Folks, lets put on our thinking caps for a moment.
First, I doubt serious there is such a story. Second consider the source who is breaking this so called story. One, Arriana Huffington who has a hatred for HRC. I would venture to say if, and there is this be if, most likely it is coming from the same silly sombitches from Americian Spectator and N.Y. Times that wrote all the lies about Clinton in 92, 93.

HERE IS WHERE i WOULD LIKE ALL TO PLACE THE THINKING CAP ON. Hell, anyone with common sense would know the right wing would come after her with something sexual about Bill.I suspect that Bill and Hillary knew this was coming and have protected themselves against this with accurate accounts of where, who Bill meant with and at the proper time will present said evidence and smear the right wing zealots.....and the NY Times, and LA Times and especially Arianna Huffington.

238. For Chrissakes - I want all the candidates to bring everything out of the closet
Now - before the primaries. If we are going to go down in 08 let it be on the basis of ideas, policies and vision - not this soap opera stuff again. I don't give a damn about Bill's penis - but if Clinton is our nominee this is just the kind of thing that will sink it in a general election -- and '08 is TOO important to let that happen.

All of a sudden, Hillary would overnight be the receptor of sympathy votes.

Oh yes, it was in 1999 when not one media outlet reported on any of the scandals/facts, shortcomings, massive business falures, addictons, family history, AWOL time...or any of the other facts that might have appeared to contradict the "good ole guy" image of prez shit-for-brains.
