Hey, gun control isn't a single issue for me. I stomped for Dean and then Kerry/Edwards and none of them promoted a more stringent gun control. So please, folks, keep an open mind for us cretins that have been around since the 60's fighting the good fight for the democratic party.

I'm a former smoker... the thing that finally got me to quit, besides the horrid heat we suffered the summer of 06, is the fact that tobacco companies put shit in cigarettes to make sure we stay addicted! That really pisses me off! So, I've been smoke-free for over a year now.

All that being said, I will stand for smoker's rights every time. Too many rights have been whittled away already. I hate the smell, I hate the industry corruption and evil ways, but I look at smokers and know their story because I was one of them.

Addictions are a bitch. We smoke too much, drink too much, eat too much... and that's all before we get to the drugs! I have great sympathy for all of us. And I hate seeing smokers bashed. So many will claim a right to life without smoke, and turn around and say it's ok to terminate life in the womb. I hate abortion too... with a fiery passion... but I'll be damned if I let someone else tell another they can't have an abortion... or a cigarette. Fuck 'em all.

BTW, Kerry/Edwards DID stump for more gun control--specifically S.1431/H.R.2038, which would have become the most sweeping gun ban in American history, and would have banned what are currently the most popular civilian target rifles and defensive carbines in America. Both left the campaign trail on Super Tuesday to vote for it, and made it a big issue in the campaign.

Dean's 2006 50-state strategy was a much smarter approach to the gun issue, and allowed pro-gun Dems to turn the Senate blue.

42. As I said before, I cannot and will not expect any of the Dem candidates

(or my fellow Democrats) to agree with each issue I support. For me, the tent is big enough and I will not belittle or disdain those that disagree with my opinions so IMHO the Dem tent I envision is most certainly large enough for both pro and anti gun control.
