Aussie PM compared Obama to al-Qaeda !
ex-PM John Howard:

"If I was running al-Qaeda in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008, and pray, as many times as possible, for a victory not only for Obama, but also for the Democrats."

Poor Johnny deserves all the HUMILIATION that he's got.
What a turd.

1. I think that will go down in Australia's history...
...as one of the greatest political blunders of recent times.

As a head of state, you have every right to criticize foreign leaders--it looks independent and forceful if done right.

But viciously laying into a foreign presidential candidate? With more than one year remaining before their election, no less? It makes you look exactly like a lackey for that nation's ruling party--which is exactly what Howard was, no doubt...

3. He embarrassed himself bigtime.
He's fucked up his own legacy as a PM.
What a loser.

2. From new Aussie PM Kevin Rudd:
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/02/12/kevin-rudd-attacks-aussie-prime-minister-john-howard-over-obama-remarks/

"Prime Minister, can you imagine if I stood up in this parliament as the alternative Prime Minister and said to the people of Australia that the terrorists would be advantaged if the Republicans were to return to the White House at the next presidential election? Ponder for a moment how that would be regarded. How would it be seized on by those opposite? Can you imagine the reaction from those opposite if I stood at this dispatch box or appeared on national television and said that the Republicans, if they won, would cause an eruption of joy on the part of al-Qaeda and on the part of terrorists?"

Congratulations on restoring sanity to your government, Mr. Rudd!

4. Well, that is arguably true
I wish Rudd had endorsed Obama, just to rub Howard's nose in it, but he reportedly is backing Clinton (not surprising, as both are corporate-friendly).

5. And Fran Townshend goes out with pretty much the same bullshit
Today was her last day and she left behind a similar turd - how al-Qaeda will try o disrupt our elections. No proof. No evidence. Just a feeling she got when she was inside Chertoff's rumbling tummy.
