Koch just said he tried to correct the 'myth' that Gore would have won the vote in Florida, had they done a recount! he used the one standard by which Gore may not have won: ironically, the standard Gore chose, instead of going for a statewide recount, which by every scenario (possibly save one) Gore would've won.
no mention, of course, of Choicepoint, or the thousands of butterfly ballots, etc.
what an asshole. that was just for starters. now Amato is blathering about illegal immigration, and, luckily, the sound is cutting out, as am I
how did those two cretins ever gain office?

| 7. How they gained office: |
|
Without commenting on either's policies, they both used a tactic that tends to work. They created the impression that they were listening to people's concerns. Koch was the "How am I doing?" mayor, and D'Amato the "pothole senator."
There was a time when I liked Koch. He was progressive early in his career, but by 1980, had changed. I never cared for Senator D'Amato; he never changed.
