I am SO HAPPY! I just
Edited on Sat Nov-17-07 11:29 AM by ray of light
got a call from the DCCC and they were asking me for $$$$.

I told them that I was not donating time or money to them because the Democrats were not ending the war and not impeaching Bush. They tried to respond with ,'Ma'am are you aware it takes 2/3rds to impeach?" And I said, "Heck YES, I'm aware of that. But I'm also aware that he's already committed impeachable offenses by lying about the war, by refusing to give documentation to Congress, by treason, by spying, and that IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS are necessary for DOCUMENTING EACH AND EVERY ONE OF HIS CRIMES. And until these hearing are held of course the 2/3rds is impossible to get. BUT AFTER those are DOCUMENTED and on the OFFICIAL RECORD, then the 2/3rds and the public support would be easy."

So then she tried to say that "It's the Republicans' fault." So I said, "You guys said that when you were the minority. The fact is that you can not point a finger when YOU have failed to put impeachment on the table. And you've failed to put the Republicans failures and crimes ON THE RECORD."

I said, "You are not getting one red cent more from me! And furthermore, your inactivity on Impeachment and your focus on 08 is causing you to lose the 18-20 year old college students who are future democratic voters. THEY understand that the PRESIDENT HAS COMMITTED CRIMES. THEY UNDERSTAND that the DEMOCRATIC REPRESENTATIVES are just pointing fingers instead of doing their job. AND they are losing people like me FORMER Republicans, former Bush voters, current Democratic voters, and current independents. Heck, even my brother a conservative Republican wants Bush and Cheney impeached!"

I further added, "I will not vote for Clinton or Obama or any candidate who doesn't start or vote for Impeachment. Unless Edwards, Obama, or Hilary start advocating impeachment, I will not work for them or give money to them. Right now, I will vote for Kucinich or I will write in a candidate before I vote for anyone who will not impeach."

And so now, I'm taking a public stand.

1. I forgot to add.. I think I told her that the democrats had to
stop acting like children and instead start acting like adults. Putting impeachment on the table is what adults do when people commit crimes. Pointing fingers and blaming the other party is what children do.

by this administration and it is of paramount importance. Once the People see with clarity what this criminal cabal has done, the votes
WILL BE THERE or there will be NO incumbent victories in '08.

company and not actual Democratic voter/volunteers making these calls? I guess that's a possibility but if I recall from my few days of telemarketing some sort of record of the final result of the call is made so that improvements in the pitch can be made.

Who knows anymore? I hope it's real Dems and not just employees on commission.

8. Ray, it takes a simple majority in the house to impeach. It takes 2/3 in the Senate
to convict and to remove from office.

And the DCCC of course raises money for House candidates (hand selected by Rahm in the primary)

13. It does present a conundrum, doesn't it? But what good is
it to stand on party loyalty and provide financial support if they then refuse to submit to the will of the People, as they have done since November, 06?

21. The DCCC has other problems. Give directly to the candidates you like.
For example, up here in NH, Carol Shea-Porter's campaign was deliberately sabotaged by Rahm's DLC New Dem DCCC. She won despite them, in both the primary and the general election. Fuck the DCCC and their rightwing Corporate Kleptocracy agenda.

22. Do you call the Republicans and ask them to change? I do.
So I prefer to look at is as helping our country, helping my family, helping my kids, helping my neighbors, helping the future generations who don't have to live with a dictator due to someone proclaiming party loyalty instead of ousting a dictator and a criminal.

So if you've got a beef with me, then call the Republicans and ask for them to change parties and vote for impeachment. That's what I do.

12. Give Your Money to Verified Voting or One of the State Groups working for Election Integrity.
Edited on Sat Nov-17-07 11:46 AM by Yellow Horse

Because these groups are operating on a shoestring to protect our elections.

Because these candidates already have hundreds of millions to spend that will be for nothing if we have another election like 2000 or 2004.

Because without fair, accurately counted elections we will never get rid of the war, get decent healthcare, or a bunch of other changes.

According to polls, Dems should have won MANY more seats in 2006 and would have had the bigger Majority the DCCC claims they need. Accurately counted elections reflecting the true will of the people are the core of our democracy.

16. While I agree with all your comments
please remember that the person placing the call is probably just a local Democrat with a strong desire to beat the repugs, not an operaative or someone with power to change the strategies being used by our "leadership". I know this because until this election cycle, I have been the ones making the calls. And I am just an anonymous member of my local Dem party with no more power than the people I was calling. I had no access to the "leaders" at all, and couldn't even report to them about comments I heard. So although I have fantasized about what I would say when the Dems call to ask me for money, I then imagine how I would have felt if someone said those things to me a couple of years ago. I may still speak my mind, but I will do so kindly, and will politely ask for them to relay my message to their precinct captain. I am sure it will go no farther, but perhaps I will feel better.

The only reason I ever sent money to any branch of the national Dems was because of Howard Dean. Now I'm going back to supporting individual candidates -- period.

While I don't agree with your pledge to toss your final vote away I completely understand the sentiment, and I agree with pretty much everything else you expressed.

33. NOTICE: They are disguising their pitches to look like "local" groups now, too...
I have received two mailers in the past month from "St. Clair Shores Democratic Majority Drive",
signed by Chris Van Hollen of the DCCC.

I took the last one to my local dem meeting and told my fellow members (REAL grassroots
democrats who WORK for the party) that this tactic was being used, to not be FOOLED, and
to give their money to PROGRESSIVE candidates DIRECTLY.

I urge all of you to SPEAK OUT locally.

We need to be voting for the right kind of democrat,
not just someone running with a (D) after their name.

Oh and I'm happier to answer some of the questions that they think indicate "republican" supporters--such as on terrorism or abortion, etc... They seem to want to pigeon hole those questions as "dem" or "rethug" so it's fun to know that I can let them know that that meme don't work no more!

but 2/3rds of the Senate to convict.

Here's a thread for you: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

So push the argument to conviction may be hard with 2/3rds, but the evidence will speak during the trial in the Senate.
