WTF was all that clapping and cheering about on the floor of the House.
I got a phone call just as the speeches were winding down and didn't get off the phone till the vote ended. What happened.

4. The clapping and the standing O were for Sam Johnson
from Texas (R). He's a Vietnam POW and of course just repeated the "thugs" talking points.

6. Funny how the Repubs are in the minority and they STILL make the most noise.

7. No kidding, it really pissed me off
Where was the loud clapping for OUR speakers? Occasional tepid applause, but we can't muster our own noise machine -- instead we had the Speaker shusshing those who were conversing while Republic representatives spoke.

I'm so sick of it. I will seriously go to bat -- give $$ and time -- for the first Democrat who takes a swing at a Republic on the floor of the House or Senate, almost regardless of their reason for doing so.

I am really that disgusted.

12. Thanks!
Of all my posts today, the only ones that got a response were the ones advocating violence (albeit just of the punch-in-the-nose variety) against Republics.

Now if only we can harness that anger...

9. Not to mention that they cut off the applause on C-SPAN after
the tally was announced. They barely kept the mics open long enough for Nancy to announce the tally at all!

http://law.wisc.edu/blogs/wisblawg/2005/02/wi_judgecongressman_in_fist_fi.html

A bloody melee broke out on February 8, 1858, that brought fame to Wisconsin congressman John F. Potter . The House was engaged that day in a heated debate over sectional issues. Northern representatives outnumbered those from the South and they pressed their parliamentary advantage, infuriating the few Southerners present. A fist fight between two members quickly turned into a general brawl, and during the fray Potter pulled the wig off an opponent’s head. At this, a cry went up in the gallery that Potter had "taken a scalp."

Imagine if some Dems ripped the toupees off of a few Repukes?

Ive had Cspan on in the backround today and caught some of Pelosi's speech.. When she was done there was a clapping ovation for her...

The guy from Tx was after her, and in true repug spirit of one-upmanship they seemed to clap and hoot a lot longer...
