No Good Kids Running Wild! What Would YOU Have Done?
It was VERY foggy this morning as I was heading to work. I went down the usual street where a crowd of kids waits for a school bus at the corner. This morning, two of the little butt-wipes were playing a game of walking slowly across the street when they saw a car coming. I could see far enough to know what they were doing, but I was still too close for comfort when I stopped. Since it was a residential street, and because I knew that there would be kids on the corner, I wasn't going very fast, but if I'd hit them, it still would have done some damage.

Well, I was furious. I shook my fist at them exactly like every grumpy old man you've ever seen on TV, and the little punks LAUGHED and WAVED at me in response.

I didn't get out of the car for two reasons: 1: If I had, I'd have spanked their little asses right then and there, and probably gone to jail, and 2: I didn't want to be late for work. But the incident was nagging at me all day today.

How would YOU have handled it?

2. Please call the school and report this asap

In my district, the principal or other administrator will drive to the bus stop to check out dangerous reports such as this. When the parents are contacted and told that little Bufous has a detention AND lost his bus privileges, you'll see the behavior stop immediately!

7. Good idea...
Never underestimate the power of the principal! I know if this happened to me and I reported it to the principal of my son's school, she would have followed up and promptly.

There's no excuse for this kind of behavior.

9. That Actually Never Occured to Me
I guess I was so caught up in the idea that *I* should have done something to teach those kids a lesson, it never occurred to me to have someone else deal with it. I'll call the school tomorrow.

13. Please let us know what happens when you call
I would ask to speak directly to the principal of the school.

I've read of cases where courts have imposed liability on the school district for student injuries around bus stops. The principal will most likely take this situation very seriously.

3. Kids on my street know better than to do that.
Parents get called and kids lose their Nintendos and computers.

I have a small block where everyone knows everyone.

4. It would be good to call the school, or the bus company, they
can notify the parents. If this continues someone will not be able to stop in time.

I would have called the school and reported the incident.

10. Isn't it funny how
we become what we used to look at and say that we would never be like? Damn, me too. Oh ha ha, they are sooo cute, they made the old guy mad. Call the school and if you ever see them again let them know it was you that got them in trouble, they will remember your car and when they are a little bit older they will egg it. Seriously, I would have done what you did but would have called the school as soon as I got to work.

14. Update: Called the School
The principal wasn't in the office, but the woman I spoke to was very grateful for my call, and said they definitely take the matter very seriously. She assured me that the school would "take action". I don't know exactly what that means, but I'm hoping it involves corrective measures of some sort.
