Gore joins global clean energy venture firm.

Al Gore today announced that he is joining venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers “to guide investments that help combat global warming.” Gore will be donating his salary to Alliance for Climate Protection, “an advocacy group he co-founded that focuses on accelerating policy solutions to the climate crisis.” Firedoglake and EnergySmart have more.

6. No, they can't. He'd have to quit his job and divest all his money.
Accepting this job is Gore's "Sherman Statement".

7. Money is more important
than leading the country. You can't really blame him, he put up with a lot during his years in the Clinton administration and running for office in 2000.

He'd rather get richer, that's his choice. Can't say I wouldn't do the same in his situation.

10. He would do it if he were drafted, at this point money
is not his prime concern. Global warming climate change and saving life as we know it is.

11. Global warming is a way to make money, not a passion
if it were really a passion, he would be running for office. It will be nearly impossible for him to advance his agenda.

12. Money only serves as a possible enticement to avoid the catastrophe of global warming,
Edited on Mon Nov-12-07 08:29 PM by Uncle Joe
if the catastrophe of climate change is not avoided, money will be worthless as it's possible no one will be alive to spend it.

Regarding running a traditional campaign to get your message out to the American People and placing his trust in the same corporate media that did nothing but slander him for the better part of two years while they simultaneously camouflaged Bush's obvious shortcomings, lies and errors would be foolhardy to say the least as this could set the movement back. Or as we say in Tennessee "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me", for some reason Bush could never get that right.

I believe this is why Al Gore is focusing on private sector solutions, while also recognizing the power of government to effect meaningful change.
