So I'm watching an episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
For those of you who don't know, it's a boomer thang...so just chill.

It aired November 7, 1965. Admiral Nelson and the crew of the Seaview have to stop a vice president who thinks the only way to deal with threats to America's freedom is to start a "preventative" war. The VP sabotages the president's undersea bomb shelter during a tour of the new facility leaving the president to die. Donning a general's uniform the VP declares he is president and using a beam device that scrambles the fail-safe systems he attempts to launch the nuclear missiles. At the last minute, the men of the Seaview rescue the president and democracy is restored.

What really blew me away was Nelson's last line in the show. Captain Crane asks the Admiral "starting a 'preventative' war; who could do such a thing!?" Sitting at his desk, tired, head in his hands, Nelson looks up and says "only a madman, Lee, only a madman".

Shit like that just gives me goosebumps.

1. Yes...it is chilling....
I honestly believe that many of the fiction books and sci-fi movies have predicted the future. That's why I love The Twilight Zone...

2. Creepily prescient!
Parenthetical note:

I'm not a big fan of VTBOTS, but I caught about two dozen episodes back when I had the Sci-Fi channel. It seemed that about 60% of the episodes involved some kind of duplication or impersonation of crew-members.

Can't say that I remember the one with the crazy veep.

6. Was there the 'rock & roll' scene after third commercial break?
I loved the rock & roll scenes where they are all acting like they were dancing on jello spread on STP.

Was madly in love with Henderson when I was 13-ish

Jello on STP...now that's slippery!!

The beautiful thing about DVD is the special features including outtakes when they get out of sequence and run from side to side in opposite directions bumping into each other.

That show really is what made me join the Navy. Unfortunately I didn't get sub duty.

10. I loved that show

When I was around 8 or 10. Unfortunately, it gave me nightmares, so my parents wouldn't let me watch it anymore. :yoiks:
