Tweety thinks that Hillary Clinton claps too much....
He's been batshit insane over this non-issue for more than a week, and last night ran an entire segment on it. He convened a panel to discuss it. He wanted to delve deeply into the psychological motives of Hillary clapping at her rallies. His moon face turned a deep red and the spittle flew.

Matthews doesn't comment on the relative merits of the health care proposals of each candidate, Republican or Democratic, or exactly where each stands on issues of war and peace or the economy. He instead focuses his insane attention on clapping - and I'm not a Hillary supporter, but I expect this treatment for whomever gets the Democratic nomination. It'll be Gore 2000 Redux when they whined about his 'earth tones' and 'sighing'.

While Matthews is just as shallow in his coverage of the GOP candidates, just a quick reminder of how he swoons and flutters over each and every one:

On Thompson:

Can you smell the English leather on this guy, the Aqua Velva, the sort of mature man’s shaving cream, or whatever, you know, after he shaved? Do you smell that sort of — a little bit of cigar smoke?

On Romney:

What do you think of him as an opponent? We're looking at him right now. He has the perfect chin, the perfect hair, he looks right. He looks like a Mountie. He looks like from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Can that guy capture the hearts of the American people?

On Rudy:

And this guy cleaned it up, and he made you feel like you had a right to walk the street safely. I think he did a great job. I'm sorry. And I think the country wants a boss like that. You know, a little bit of fascism there. Just a little bit. Just a pinch of it.

The country is going insane and straight down the crapper and he wants to talk about...clapping. It's gonna be a long year.

2. I think that guy breathes too much. And uses up too many other
vital resources that decent human beings need.

6. When Tweety spouts off about Hillary's clapping,
I think about the MSM making 2000 about sighing and 2004 about smearing a hero.

I wish Jon Stewart would go on Tweety's show and do the same thing he did on Crossfire.

It's insane to have whole shows trivialize something as important as who our president will be.

And, of course, Bush proved just how important that position is to the well-being of this country and this world.

7. Maybe we should get Hillary to wear a suit and put on some Aqua Velva
and visit Matthews - ask him if he wants a wiff.

9. He basically covers only the horserace aspect of the candidates.
He delves into policy only as it relates to that. The time spent pontificating could be spent informing, but that's so yesterday.

And yeah, he does have some weird he-man obsession. He might want to look into that. I once heard him talking about how he likes the pubs because on their side they have "big, beefy guys".
