Incumbent GOP governor of Kentucky obliterated by Dem candidate: 61-39 %
http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071106/NEWS0106/71106041

Josh Marshall says:

When he was first elected by a ten-point margin in 2003, Fletcher was the first Republican to win a gubernatorial race in Kentucky since 1967, and the state GOP had high hopes that they were turning this border-South state solid red. I guess the last four years haven't worked out so well.

(snip)

Despite all my knowledge of political statistics, it's hard for me to actually think of a time in recent history when an incumbent governor lost a general election this badly.

4. This could be a good indicator.
I heard that the Republican 'brand' is losing steam with people. I hope it gets turned into a dirty word for a few decades.

16. And remember, Kentucky went for Bush by 13 points in '04, so
this great victory for the Dems could be a good indicator for next year's election. Or so I hope.

19. I was a Precinct Judge in Ky today. Our precinct saw record turnout.
This is a Republican precinct, they are the majority. Our numbers echoed the state in general. We won Gov, AG, Tres, Auditor.

The new AG, Jack Conway could go far. He's more than a pretty face.
