Former South Dakota legislator Ted Klaudt (R) is on trial for the rape of two foster children in his custody.
His defense: It wasn't rape. It was immoral, but it wasn't rape.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A teenager testified Wednesday she felt pressured to let her foster father touch her genitals because he claimed she could make thousands of dollars selling reproductive eggs.

The woman, who now is in college, testified for much of Wednesday's court session, the second day in Klaudt's trial on rape charges. She sobbed and wiped her eyes when she described her desire never to have children because she is afraid they could be physically abused just as her biological father had hurt her when she was a small child.

She was sent to the Klaudt family's care in Walker after being released from a state reform school. She said she had been in juvenile corrections programs since the age of 12 or 13.

Klaudt, a 49-year-old former Republican lawmaker, is charged with four counts of second-degree rape in Hughes County for offenses against two foster daughters. The rapes happened in Pierre during the 2005 and 2006 legislative sessions and one of the offenses happened when one of the girls was a legislative page, prosecutors said.

Klaudt is also charged with rape, other sex offenses, witness intimidation and stalking in Corson County, where he lives on a ranch. The trial on those charges is set to begin Nov. 13 in Deadwood.
