Cheney's Lawyer(Addington's Replacement) Leaving TOMORROW....LINK
Shannen Coffin is LEAVING TOMORROW! So there won't be any transition and wrapping up loose ends for Coffin. Why would he be leaving so quickly? Hmmmm ... if he passed muster with Addington, and has worked on all the nefarious projects Addington directed and has been a 'good soldier', why the quick exit with no warning? THere is something here ... anyone have an idea what is going on?

Cheney Lawyer Is Leaving

November 01, 2007 05:36 PM ET | Permanent Link

"The office of Vice President Cheney is saying goodbye to a top-level official. Cheney's office confirmed late today to U.S. News that counsel Shannen Coffin is leaving government tomorrow and will head back into private practice at his former law firm Steptoe & Johnson.

A source says Coffin is expected to take a breather from the rapid pace of government service to spend time with his wife and two small children before returning to private practice after New Year's. Reached by phone at his office, Coffin declined comment and referred calls to the public relations office.

Coffin joined Cheney's staff in 2005 to fill the position once held by David Addington, who replaced Lewis "Scooter" Libby as chief of staff after his indictment. In that capacity, Coffin has served as the top legal adviser to the vice president.

The Cheney assignment was Coffin's second stint in the Bush administration. Until mid-2004, he served as deputy assistant attorney general in the civil division. It was there that Coffin first won favor with Cheney when he successfully defended the vice president from having to publicly release documents related to his energy task force. Coffin also led the government's effort to bar frozen Iraqi assets from being used to pay an award to prisoners of war from the Gulf War. And he headed up the Justice Department's defense in cases challenging so-called partial-birth abortions."

1. I am telling you this country is at a fork in the road with these
guys....this lawyer leaving this quick.....he must see some serious shit and he is getting out before he can be implicated in conspiracy and perhaps High Crimes, Treason etc.

Karen Hughes left also.

Seriously, the rats are jumping ship at a much quicker pace now....is it the investigations? Or do they see * and Cheney attacking Iran with Congress approval?

6. Addington has directed the dismantling of our constitutional democracy, is that a factor?
There are some investigations reaching deep 'inside' the White House, which are likely to have some bearing on Coffin resigning and leaving so quickly.

However, Addington and Cheney will NEVER leave on their own, and they will create a wide path of destruction while still in power --and anyone, subordinates included, will be considered 'collateral damage' in the bigger schemes they are carrying out.

Coffin may have realized that time is short before the real 'dirt' hits the media, and he better get out of Dodge in hurry.

5. wiretapping program
Vice President Cheney’s office acknowledged for the first time yesterday that it has dozens of documents related to the administration’s warrantless surveillance program, but it signaled that it will resist efforts by congressional Democrats to obtain them.

The disclosure by Cheney’s counsel, Shannen W. Coffin, came on the day that the Senate Judiciary Committee had set as a deadline for the Bush administration to turn over documents related to the wiretapping program, which allowed the National Security Agency to monitor communications between the United States and overseas without warrants.

17. I wonder if it's related at all to this?
Waxman et al may be getting close to the middle of the web?..

The Politico) House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) says the White House is improperly withholding roughly more than 600 pages of documents related to imprisoned former GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff, and he wants them handed over to his committee by Nov. 6.

In a letter today to White House Counsel Fred Fielding, Waxman said, "The White House is withholding hundreds of pages of documents about the activities of convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff on the grounds that these documents involve internal White House deliberations. Unless the president is prepared to assert executive privilege over these documents, they should be turned over to the Oversight Committee without further delay."

According to Waxman, current and former White House officials are refusing to cooperate with his committee's ongoing probe into Abramoff's dealings with the White House.

9. The problem with erosion
is that even if you're lucky and it slows down, it has already established who will win. The administration has an erosion problem.

So I'm betting on the dark horse, underdog, longshot here: the U.S. Constitution.

They tried to erode the Constitution, but they don't understand what the Constitution was written to withstand.

13. It is the almost instantaneous announcement and exiting that is telling...
If this had been planned there would have been an announcement weeks in advance, with a ready replacement to step in.

This obviously was a reaction to something they could not control.
