Yes Virginia, there is a Virginia. And they're having an election next week. And the Dems ......
... could well demonstrate what many of us have been sensing ..... a ground shift from Republican to Democrat. In Virginia, the entire state legislature is up for grabs.

The Republicans control both houses of the state legislature. Their control, however, is not all that deep. For example, their plurality in the Senate is four seats. Three of these are considered heavily at risk.

One of the endangered seats holds up the ass of the wife of the odious Tom Davis. The whole story of these two is sufficiently sordid to merit its own thread. (He, of the usual RW 'famblee vay-yoos' shtick, left his wife for her, she and he went to more than a few Abramoff soirees, etc., etc.)

It should be interesting to see how this all goes next Tuesday. Even if the legislature stays Republican, if the plurality shrinks, that's quite likely the continuation of the trend of Virginia slipping to the left. It will never be ..... Maryland or Rhode island or Massachusetts ...... but it would be VERY significant nonetheless. Virginia was the first southern state to go Republican (1964). I think seeing it swing back could be the start of an even larger trend.

I'll be watching the returns next week, popcorn in a bowl by my side, even though I am not a Virginia resident.

1. Like with Hillary next year, we're gonna win by landslides this year.

2. I do live in VA and am hopeful we can retake the State Senate this year. Doubt we can take the
House, but it's a start. With Mark Warner running to replace that jackass John Warner next year, we'll have 2 Dem Senators.

I do alot of volunteering and it's easy to engage folks in discussions in that role. All I'm hearing is folks are ready for change, BUT THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE HILLARY. She shouldn't kill us this year, but if she ends up the Dem nominee, then VA won't be blue til she's out of office. She'll be a drag on local and state races for sure.

Don't bother flaming, just letting you know what I hear.

3. Why would I flame you for that?
She's not my candidate. For what its worth, I hear that sort of sentiment even here in Maryland. Surely not nearly as strong as I can imagine it is in Virginia, but I hear it, too.

But anyway, this was about the upcoming Virginia races.

What is the Republican plurality in the Virginia House?
