9. Right, or "parents are abusive nightmares and the girl knows
whether or not it's safe to tell them" court order.

Girls have great instincts when it comes to their parents. After all, they've known those parents all their lives. If she says she can't tell them, there's usually a damned good reason.

Squeal laws kill.

13. Amen --
kids who are afraid of their parents to the extent that they would undergo a surgical procedure without telling them probably know something we don't.

I didn't have a great relationship with my parents, but if I had ever been in this situation as a teenager, I would have known I could tell them -- they would have been upset, but I still would have been able to...

15. Not to mention the rare cases when the child is pregnant
because of molestation by someone in the family.

18. That is always my first thought in situations/votes like this
I had an ex-girlfriend who had been raped by her father. What if another young woman faces a situation like that? Should she have to get permission from the father that raped her?

19. Exactly.
Even if they try to leave loopholes, with all the beaurocracy that any loophole will entail, there's no way to guarantee that a teen will have a chance to use said loophole during the first trimester. While the idea of a 14 year old going to an abortion clinic alone to face the biggest decision of her young life may seem a bit heartbreaking to most of us, there are times when it also may be necessary.

6. Tough question.
If it were my daughter I'd want to know, if only to be loving and supportive in what would be in a confusing and difficult time for her. But, there are parents who wouldn't be there. Or if they were, they wouldn't be at all understanding or compassionate to their daughter's situation.

If we raise them right and trust them, we can hope our children can make good decisions - with or without us.

11. I think it gets murky when minors are involved, but in the end,
I don't think anyone should be able to force anyone else to carry a baby.

14. Also, read the story about the girl
who has had hiccups since Jan. 23. You can also suggest a cure. Story is up near the top of the page.
