Hillary looked like her eyes were trying to bore through John Edwards' skull
He just used her own words against her in Philly, including "If only I knew then what I know now about Iraq."

35. Exactly. I despise Mark Penn and Rupert Murdoch
As a person, I think Hillary has the temperament to do the job of being president, but I really don't like her policies or her political connections. There isn't a damned thing wrong with her voice, or cleavage, or any of that other superficial bullshit that people keep bringing up. I am so goddam SICK of Gore's "sighs" and Edwards' haircut and all of that other garbage.

17. Edwards is getting his ass kicked
At one point all the candidates but Obama turned on Edwards because he's acting like such a jerk. Edwards had to admit "nobody up here is perfect, including me." How humble of him!

Russert is going out of his way to ask Hillary all the tough questions, then Russert gives the other candidates, Edwards especially free shots to refute whatever Hillary said. Hillary is cleaning Edwards' clock despite this unfair disadvantage. She's also giving honest real answers. Meanwhile, Edwards tries to play the crowd. Edwards pretends he's Huey Long.

18. So has she "honestly" explained why she's such good pals with Rupert Murdoch?
And that's just for starters...

Please don't make me laugh too hard if you feel she's been straight and honest with us.

At least Edwards is trying to hear and address our concerns. Now you can claim he's honest or not, but I don't see really any evidence that he isn't. And he's at least speaking to me, which she isn't.

And I really think you need to explain how Russert is putting Hillary on the griller and not others.

If he's being a jerk, and I don't see that he is, he's being a jerk where he NEEDS to be a jerk to confront the problematic issues/people that others aren't dealing with to restore our democracy and our middle class!

25. The sequence of Russert's questions
Russert would ask Hillary a trap question, then allowed the other candidates free shots to refute Hillary's answers. This was a pattern for a good portion of the debate. A transcript will probably come out tomorrow.

An example of Edwards being dishonest is his accusation that Hillary is part of Washington corruption. Edwards has no evidence that Hillary has done anything corrupt. If taking money from rich people is corrupt, then Edwards is as corrupt as Hillary is, just not as well funded.

You can laugh if you want but I saw Hillary giving serious policy answers while other candidates, mostly Edwards, spent their time attacking Hillary.

30. Hillary set a record on how soon she went away from public campaign financing...
Edwards now has embraced it!

You can say she hasn't broken any laws and therefore isn't corrupt. The problem is that the system is corrupt! It is really INSTITUTIONALIZED BRIBERY that is going on now without public campaign financing. The only reason that these corporations are spending tons of money on these candidates is because they expect something back in return. That IS bribery to a T. Whether it's "legal" or not! And she's embracing folks like Rupert Murdoch and is third/fourth on the list amongst all congress critters in getting money from pharma and health insurance industries.

That is what Edwards is complaining about. And I don't see how you can claim that is "dishonest". Now you might want to say you disagree with him, but to claim he's "dishonest" without really even trying to put anything out other than "he's rich" as an excuse that he's as corrupt as she is, then you're completely missing the point.

There are rich people that are decent people out there. But one shouldn't have to be rich in order to run for political office. It's increasingly becoming that way, or you have to be completely beholden to special interests to get the necessary money to win any sort of meaningful office. That is not the America that I believe most Americans want if they are looking for a democratic system (or even a Republic as Republicans keep trying to say when they are claiming we aren't a democracy).

The system is at a breaking point and needs some drastic FDR-style changes or we're going to be toast soon as a country! Someone like Edwards or Gore might help get us out of this mess. I don't see Clinton changing the status quo enough to make a difference. She thrives too much on it.

No more "my husband" this and that. It's on her and no, they didn't just pick on her because she was "a girl." How silly. :silly: HRC's performance was sub-par and she was "off her game." Nothing more, nothing less.
