Especially when we KNOW that there are people who have NO water..or at least No SAFE water..

Apparently some dogs don't "like" chlorinated water, so Woof water to the rescue.

I can see people who jog and take their dogs, taking some extra water for their dog, but to buy special dog water..and have another plastic bottle to dispose of.. well... it's crazy..and only adds another log on the fire of burning hatred of wasteful, wanton Americans ...

When we had labs, we traveled with margarine tubs and would fill bottles from the tap to take for them..and sometimes I would freeze some of them so they would have cold water as they thawed.

5. So do I. I give my pup water from the Brita Filter.
We didn't intend to spoil her that way but that's about all she will drink.

7. Our old cat Skunkie, INSISTED on ice cubes in the water bowl
He would stand there and just look up at us when we gave them fresh water..and would NOT drink until we put ice cubes in the water :)

11. This is as stupid as the sale of individually wrapped ice cubes
but they are doing that also. All that plastic going into landfills just so some idiots can boast they have very exclusive and very expensive ice cubes.

12. Funny at one level
and just sad and stupid on another.

I think there are people in India who have had their water supply ruined by such stellar corporations as CocaCola and PepsiCo who would LOVE a nice cool drink of Woof Water .

oh well ,after all they are just little brown people.

PS--I have a cat and my son raises Paws For a Cause dogs, so I am far far from an animal hater.

15. I don't mind the dog bakeries.. here's why..
Edited on Tue Oct-30-07 03:26 PM by SoCalDem
Pet foods are making our pets fat..and recently even killing them. so a business (usually locally owned) that hires people, pays taxes and rent, and provides a product that people are willing to pay for is completely different.

If tap water is safe enough for people, then it'ssafe enough for pets..

and the baked goodies probably don't come with a ton of plastic to be disposed of..

I'm guessing that the pet bakeries are also a sort of a clearinghouse for animal lovers and probably aid in pet adoptions & rescue too.

23. Is tap water safe for people?
I live in So Cal and have gotten several of those "warning" letters about arsenic in the water. "Do not be alarmed, but we found poison in your water."

I find the tap water completely undrinkable... my fiance can't even rinse her mouth with it, as the taste makes her gag.

We now buy the 5 gallon containers of 365 from Whole Foods and bring back the plastic to their recycling center. We also have several "bottles" that get reused when we want to take water with us somewhere and when they are done, they are taken to the recycling center.

Bottled water, by default, isn't evil, but someone who buys bottle after bottle and just throws the empty in the trash is the real source of the problem.

21. My Rats get bottled water.
But they don't have their own special water called "Squeek Water" or anything like that. We fill their water bottles from the same bottled water we drink, since the tap water is completely disgusting and if I am not willing to drink it, I am not going to give it to my pets.

22. But this isn't a logical objection
because the same could be said about the pet food industry -- that there are, literally, millions of people STARVING (and of course, there actually are) while we feed our pets special food that's made just for them.

Slippery slope territory

24. chlorine gas will evaporate out of an open container of water...
... if you just let it sit. So you can substantially de-chlorinate* your pet's water all by yourself at home.

*Doesn't work with chlorine compounds -- just the gas itself.

I hope it's made by Dasani. Then it'll be just regular old bottled tap water.

What a joke the bottled water industry is.

and have watched them drink out of a puddle right next to the nice fresh clean bowl of water i just filled.

I'm just surprised it's not "oxygenated for brain cell improvement" or negatively ionized to reduce anti-oxidants.

Thanks for this--my first laugh of the day. I love dogs too, but this is a bit absurd.
