Email from Chris Dodd, his last statement says it all for me
Dear DFA Member,

The Military Commissions Act. Warrantless wiretapping. Shredding of Habeas Corpus. Torture. Extraordinary Rendition. Secret Prisons.

Enough is enough.

You may have heard that I've placed a hold on any legislation that includes "retroactive immunity" for telecom companies that helped the Bush Administration spy on Americans.

And if it comes down to it, I'll filibuster.

This might not be customary, but my ask isn't that you vote for me in the Pulse Poll, it is that you let Democracy for America HQ know how you feel about our fight to restore the Constitution and preserve the rule of law.

So vote in the poll, and in the "optional" comment field, send a message encouraging DFA to join the fight on FISA today.

http://www.DemocracyforAmerica.com/VoteDodd

I've been supported in this effort by MoveOn, the ACLU, Glenn Greenwald, Atrios, the team at Firedoglake, Open Left, the Daily Kos community and countless other bloggers and organizations across the country on the issue of restoring our Constitution.

There is a hearing on retroactive immunity before the Senate Judiciary Committee in two days, in fact.

We're getting closer to stopping this bill, and DFA's support might be the factor that pushes us over the top.

Ask DFA to get involved in the fight by voting in the Pulse Poll and sharing your request in the optional comment field.

I'd like to see a little more spine, frankly, on these issues. Candidates always tell us they want to lead, but a little leadership right now would certainly be welcomed on these questions.

We shouldn't have to wait to elect the next President before we finally show the courage to stand up to the grave mistakes made by this one.

Thanks for your support,

Chris Dodd

9. I really do see a shift in peoples outrage with this little puppet we have
maybe it's because I'm looking for it so hard that I'm just seeing what I want to see but I really don't think that is the case here this time. Americans are waking up slowly but waking nevertheless and once they get their eyes open it'll be kaddy bar the doors for the traitors and war criminals. I personally would already be locked up if I didn't really believe this too. :hi:

8. Powerful enough to change my voting behavior.
Instead of voting for Kucinich in polls as a vote for humane government run by traditional liberal principles, I may start voting for Dodd.

Naturally, comes the election, I'll vote for whoever the party bosses and media give me, grumbling.

10. Senator Dodd has been saying things I want to hear and
he seems to be a man who lives his life true to his convictions. I'm sure theres things he is for that I may be against but I expect that to be the case with whomever our candidate it. I seen a video clip of him a while back and he was holding his real young daughter, who could be measured in months rather than in years, and it was pretty heart warming to see his interaction with his young child. I'd gladly vote for him and I can say that about pretty much the whole field, excepting for a couple would I be kinda thinking I was picking the lesser of two evils with though.

13. Positively Orwellian
His response to "Warrantless wiretapping. Shredding of Habeas Corpus. Torture. Extraordinary Rendition. Secret Prisons," is to threaten a filibuster on some bizzarro tangent that would never be signed into law anyway. And then only "if it comes to that."

If he were a 3-year-old playing with the Fisher Price® Netroots Pandering Playset, it might be cute.

Right Senator Groupthink, "we shouldn't have to wait" for some "courage to stand up," some "spine," for "a little leadership." If only we could find someone, someone like a senior Senator, a Party Leader, somebody willing to finally DO some damn thing. Just say "impeachment" in public -- suggest it maybe. Gosh, wouldn't things seem just a little less hopeless?

And he wonders why he polling behind Gravel and Colbert.
