What's in DU's halloween candy dish?

I'm looking for cool stuff to hand out to the munchkins. I think I'm going to give the older kids some Hershey's icebreakers gum (good for the teeth.)

(BTW, about how how tall should be my cutoff point for giving out gum? Waste high? I don't know the sensibilities of parents these days.)

What are the rest of you DUers handing out?

1. Costco's finest
a three pound bag of mini chocolate bars.

If it's not chocolate, it's not worth the calories.

5. I'm not doing Halloween this year. I am in the middle of moving.
Besides, around here all the parents drive their kids to the wealthier neighborhoods for trick-or-treating.

6. Well, Hershey's has recently closed their plants in PA and have
relocated in Mexico and China, I believe, and other countries; I am boycotting them! I refuse to buy Hersheys candies that are not manufactured in the U.S.

You can make up your own mind, but I refuse to buy Hershey's candies not made in the U.S.; Just check the labels on the candies.

9. I'll have to look for some other xylitol gum then...

...most of the other brands only have xylitol as an low-quantity additive, though.

10. Snack size Hershey's, Reece cups, Kit Kat bars and Whoppers
I'm going to wear a witch's hat and use Halloween makeup on my eyes right before I start giving out treats. I may be 64, but I enjoy Halloween probably as much as the kids do! :)

19. You and me both. (64, that is.)

I wear my floor-length black summer kimono with the family symbols on it. The kids in this neighborhood think it's a "wizard's robe" ... culturally-deprived as they are.

I haven't tried it in years, but when I think back, it was so sweet it used to hurt my teeth. So why does it sound so good?

21. Absolutely nothing.
In this semi-rural area, people go into town for trick or treating. The stores on main street decorate and hand out candy. Kids in town can trick-or-treat in their neighborhoods, and those from outlying rural areas head for main street.

We'll be taking my grandson to main street.

If I were to hand out candy, it would probably be something I like myself: red vines, cinnamon bears, sour gummies... I'd really prefer to hand out pumpkin cookies and hot apple cider, myself. I bet the hot apple cider would go well around here; it's supposed to be about 18 degrees on Halloween night.
