RNC Chairman Quits After Just 10 Months, Declares "Mission Accomplished"

Posted by Jillian at 5:30 PM on October 20, 2007.

Jillian: Oh? What "objective" was that, Sen. Martinez? Denying

This post, written by Jillian, originally appeared on Sadly No!

Mel Martinez is stepping down as RNC chairman a little early. His reason for doing so is fairly peculiar, if I do say so myself:

Martinez, a prominent Cuban-American who is up for re-election in 2010, said he was relinquishing the job to spend more time focusing on his Florida constituents. He also said the RNC had achieved the objective he set when he assumed the job in January

(emphasis added)

Oh? What "objective" was that, Mel? Denying little kids health insurance? Smearing twelve year olds? Lying about the fact that you authorized torture after telling everyone that you didn't authorize torture? Politicizing the Justice Department by firing attorneys who didn't toe the line? Commuting the sentences of the cronies in your party who did hatchet jobs for the Executive office, and reinforcing the popular opinion that y'all think you're above the law? Kicking puppies in the head?

The idea that anyone in the Republican party can use a phrase that means "Mission Accomplished" in relation to what they've done over the last ten months is just a staggering admission of hubris and stupidity. Keep it up, guys! We're all rooting for you. I have some solid intelligence that this website is a prime gathering location for al Qaeda terrorists who support universal healthcare - I strongly urge you to round up everyone you find pictured here and send them to Guantanamo for waterboarding. That'll show everyone exactly what you stand for!

Gavin adds: Will the last Hispanic in the GOP please turn the lights off? Kthxbai.

3. just a week or two ago, flipping through the t.v. channels, i paused long enough during the airing
of one of the cuban/american/hispanic programs on one of the spanish channels ... one of the guests (or maybe it was the co-host) said something about how Mel Martínez was supporting the enforcement of border patrol and how that had something to do with the returning of cubans to cuba, to which the host, a well known hispanic host whose name escapes me just like the name of the program escapes me, said, "OUR MEL? DO YOU MEAN THAT OUR MEL IS IN FAVOR OF ALL OF THIS? THAT CANNOT BE. WE HAVE TO LET HIM KNOW THAT THAT CANNOT BE." Now. Be that is it may, may that have had anything to do with Martinez's weaseling out of his post as RNC Chairman?

O, those who do bite the apple of power and greed, most always fall on their sword !

6. No pass the smell test
Mel Martinez came in after the 2006 ass kicking and left before the 2008 vote?

Either he is jumping ship before it goes under or there is some dirt some place

8. Martinez was a beneficiary of the 2000 election crimes in Florida.
Remember Florida 2,000?
Where Dem voters and Dem candidates have no correlation!
Castor votes = 3,590,201
Martinez votes = 3,672,864
-------------------------
difference = 82,663 votes

Compare the Percentage Democrats : Percentage Kerry Pearson correlations for four states (by counties):

California 0.86
Iowa 0.723
South Dakota 0.902
Florida -0.028

MOVE ON. Nothing fishy here!

10. The data and numbers out of the 2000 & 2004 elections is so damning
And yet "our liberal" media runs from the truth.

"DELAND, Fla., Nov. 11 - Something very strange happened on election night to Deborah Tannenbaum, a Democratic Party official in Volusia County. At 10 p.m., she called the county elections department and learned that Al Gore was leading George W. Bush 83,000 votes to 62,000. But when she checked the county's Web site for an update half an hour later, she found a startling development: Gore's count had dropped by 16,000 votes, while an obscure Socialist candidate had picked up 10,000--all because of a single precinct with only 600 voters."
- Washington Post Sunday , November 12, 2000 ; Page A22

**********************************************************

In Central OH in 2004 3 or 4 precincts in the city of Delaware, OH which had voted for Gore in 2000
and had more registered dems in 2004 went to bush.

I pray I live long enough to see these bastards in jail for their crimes.

7. Also, his fundraising level was not-so-much. Rethugs just don't give to Hispanics
They will USE their tools -- this MARTINEZ dude, ESTRADA, THOMAS, GONZALEZ, whassisname-prez-candidate -- for their propaganda needs, but NOT for REAL power.

Haha, I still remember their 2000 convention, when ON THE STAGE were all sorts of minorities dancing and signing, for a sea of White Rethugs as an audience. This was supposed to show how inclusive the Rethug party is, doncherknow.
