It never ceases to amaze me how stunned I am after a press conference
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 12:24 PM by shadowknows69
It's like a physical shock. Like being punched in the face in a fist fight. Being ready for it but the sonofabitch scrambles your brain pan and waters your eyes anyway. The utter realization of the increasingly dire place our country is in. I sit in awed silence as the words stumble out of his inarticulate maw like a recording set on replay; regurgitating manufactured truths to make the teeming masses feel warm and fuzzy. I can't believe we've come to this. What fools we must be in the eyes of the world for allowing this deluded, messiah complexed, clearly substance using, extremist, hired murderer for Slavery Incorporated to continue to infest our White House like the locust he is.

3. I miss this country holding its politicians to any kind of standards
that apply to We the People. Like competence in your job, being a danger to others due to mental instability, mass murder etc etc.

chortle right along with the giggling murderer. I get the same feeling of total shock and dismay every time I watch.

9. Collective insanity perhaps?
I find myself laughing maniacally at the absurdity of it all sometimes and it worries me. It should worry those that wield the ability to topple kings, or enforce them (ie. the press). I had a thought today. I almost think the WH press corp should be an elected body of some sort. Stringent regulations of course as far as campaigning, there could be none. Simply a submission of each candidate's published works and their record of accuracy on stories. Or term limits on Press Corp duty or something. Something has to make these people do their jobs or all is lost.

yet to hear him say anything funny. If they were laughing AT HIM, rather than WITH HIM I would not mind, but it is nauseating hearing their stupid laughter.

5. You know what I was thinking of?
I watched Mike Judge's movie Idiocracy. So, naturally, my mind was pursuing the same sort of line of thought, that he utters these platitudes for the masses. But I just can't shake the perception, that he is one of the dumbed down masses.

7. And the media is complicit!
What's shocking to me is the way the press corps lets Bush bully and push them into his mocking, frat-boy teasing and frivolity. They just yuk it up right along with him, laughing when there are very serious issues that are not being addressed.

I realize it's probably difficult for them to not completely suck up to him the way they've been doing for the last six years, but shouldn't they realize by now that Bush is no longer the Big Man on Campus?

8. Sometimes it feels like we're in the middle of a movie
about how the evil powers took an addled, alcoholic, egotistical governor and made him President of the United States because they knew they could control his every move. Then they put their evil plans in motion to control all the worlds oil and... oh, wait.., what? Nevermind.

10. I take his stupidity, ignorance, demeanor as a personal insult.
And, it makes me feel much less about those friends who continue to support him. The most divisive, offensive president, ever. and yes, the media is indeed complicit - it is as if he is just a hopeless contestant on American Idol - something to make a spectacle of! Only they enable him - bad for us, bad for the world.

18. What amazes me more than anything is the number of his supporters who
can't see this. Every day there's some fool with a LTTE in the local paper repeating his crap. So many just spit out hatred of all Muslims and are scared to death that their house and barn will be blown up by 'terrorists'. It's like the real world just disappeared 6 years ago. No one can remember what it was like before the Chimp took us down this path.

26. So true..
how surreal is it to sit there and watch this train wreck of a human being who can't put three coherent words together on his own try and pretend that he's competent enough to be in the position he's in, and the U.S. media just sits there like a pack of stooges going along with the pretense.

I think to myself, am I the one that's crazy? What the Hell planet am I on? Is this all just a bad nightmare that I'll eventually wake up from?

:hurts:

That's why DU is my sanctuary of sorts, I can come here and realize, no I'm not the one who's crazy. Other people see it too.

27. That's the thing about living in a country where privatization hasn't
really kicked in yet. You see, you usually start with government owned media. The people grow up knowing that what they see on television is government sanctioned. That's why they are far more saavy about being taken by talking heads, than we are. We just don't see it coming because of all that stuff about America and freedom of speech, blah, blah, blah.

I think you shouldn't even be given citizenship papers, if you can't prove you can critically think, because, being an American carries a huge responsibility to understand the Constitution which makes us different than any other country in the world, and it sure does look like too many people have yielded to others, the power to remove the very freedoms that make us Americans.

64 word run-on sentence. 66 if I expand the conjunctions.

28. I think of how much death he is causing in Iraq
sometimes at night, when there is so much silence and think it is lunacy to have this man running our country.

Poem
Insult Before Gift Giving -Tsimshian (Alaska)

man you are a liar
what you say, it's all
lies
Now the words!
who's afraid of snow-on-the-leaves,
melting away
I mean Where's you gun your money big mouth
Now. Louder!
man what
you say it's all a crock of shit.

30. We enabled the corporations through our actions.
And he represents them.

That's simplistic and not wholly true. But perhaps more true than not. The heartless and powerful who feed off of our habits and consumption. And I might add that the automobile is at the center of it all. It is why we are in Iraq. It is why so many are dying of heart attacks. It is why we have become lazy and abusive of our power. And we have let them run rampant over our special country.

I've blurted out some stupid things too, but usually this is when I've been woken up in the middle of the night, have been working for 20 hours straight, or have had a couple of glasses of wine on an empty stomach. How bad is it when the American President is less articulate than an average person like me?
