Hypothetical-What would you do to help poor people in America?
Say you're the one who gets to make the decisions. If you had the option of raising the Earned Income Tax Credit or raising the minimum wage, which one would you go for and why?

1. Two things
Raise minimum wage to around 10 to 15 bucks an hour at least, and tax the wealthy and their assets in total, their golden parachutes and incomes, dividends, inheritances etc.And if corporations want to sell here or do any business here they will PAY,no hiding overseas to skip out on giving back I would put a very short leash on the corporations and tax them A LOT so they cannot ever again BUY the government out from under the people. ALL taxes would be PROGRESSIVE.
No more robbing the poor and working poor to fatten the piggy wealthy.

4. Oh yeah why
With minimum wage at 15 bucks an hour corporations that are big incompetent gorillas might finally face real competition. And with the extra cash comes demand. With demand comes selling more stuff the economy *gasp * grows. The Economy grows from the bottom. If you take care of the bottom, feed it well, give it freedom to explore itself what they want, let the people invent, share ideas, cross pollinate if you will and the forest grows lush and diverse and more are happy and less go without.

2. hmmm
I think there are two other important steps.

1. Reduce defense spending.

2. No deficit spending that will produce a huge debt service.

Then I would means test Medicare and Social Security. Free up some of that money to apply to other programs.

Come from the fact the state gets the cheapest providers. These providers are often incompetent. Some are not worth a shit, and others do a damn good job.And the state is going to have to accept some people cannot work ever. And they have a right to exist.
Never trust a salesman to tell the truth about how well a program he profits off of is helping clients lives.
Because a providers interest is keeping clients captive ,and recruiting more,so to speak.

There's little scam games going on,with some providers...

One provider's director embezzled 100,000 or so from the state and he quit that next day. He may have gotten away if I didn't report what I overheard, than the program figured out I snitched and they made my life hell there.

Some of my experiences with this..kind of shit..
This describes the insipidity's

First, it is absurd to think that vulnerable users of public services such as frail elders and the seriously ill who consume most care can act as informed consumers. They are usually unable to. They cannot comparison-shop, reduce demand when suppliers raise prices, or accurately appraise quality. Even lucid, educated patients may have difficulty gauging whether a hospital's luxurious appurtenances bespeak good care.

3. I know that raising the minimum wage would help.. I also know
raising taxes on the very rich wouldn't hurt them, as they are so very, very wealthy. If I was, I'd be happy to help other people.

5. The minimum wage
People live paycheck to paycheck and while getting a nice lump of money once a year is nice, getting a paycheck boost every week is more practical.
