First, show a video of a detainee being waterboarded. Then, we strap them down, and give them a little red button that says "torture." Then we waterboard them for three minutes. They can stop it at any point (even before it begins) by acknowledging that it is torture. If it isn't torture, they'll have no problem putting up with it for three minutes. (The average before a prisoner breaks, by the way, is 14 seconds.)
