1. Bush vetoes any bill that doesn't directly benefit him and his criminal buddies.
Stem cell research hurts them, S-CHIP hurts them, and so on. It's nothing new.

I think it was Mark Crispin Miller who noticed the Bush gets all fumble-mouthed when he's trying to express himself in communitarian language (putting food on your family, is our children learning), but his diction is sharp as a bayonet when he's talking about killin' and blowin' stuff up real gud.

21. I'm going to treat your question as if it were sincere.

In his autobiography, Bush claimed that the pending execution of Karla Faye Tucker "felt like a huge piece of concrete...crushing me." But in an unguarded moment in 1999 while traveling during the presidential campaign, Bush revealed his true feelings to the journalist Tucker Carlson. Bush mentioned Karla Faye Tucker, who had been executed the previous year, and told Carlson that in the weeks immediately before the execution, Bianca Jagger and other protesters had come to Austin to plead for clemency for her. Carlson asked Bush if he had met with any of the petitioners and was surprised when Bush whipped around, stared at him, and snapped, "No, I didn't meet with any of them." Carlson, who until that moment had admired Bush, said that Bush's curt response made him feel as if he had just asked "the dumbest, most offensive question ever posed." Bush went on to tell him that he had also refused to meet Larry King when he came to Texas to interview Tucker but had watched the interview on television. King, Bush said, asked Tucker difficult questions, such as "What would you say to Governor Bush?"

What did Tucker answer? Carlson asked.

"Please," Bush whimpered, his lips pursed in mock desperation, "please, don't kill me."

Carlson was shocked.<4> He couldn't believe Bush's callousness and reasoned that his cruel mimicry of the woman whose death he had authorized must have been sparked by anger over Karla Faye Tucker's remarks during the King interviews. When King had asked her what she planned to ask Governor Bush, Karla Faye had said she thought that if Bush approved her execution, he would be succumbing to election-year pressure from pro–death penalty voters.

34. "Lucky me. I won the trifecta."
President Bush is said to have joked about 9/11 to his Budget
Director shortly thereafter, saying, "Lucky me, I won the trifecta."
And he continued to tell this "joke" numerous times at Republican
fundraisers. What President Bush was talking about was that he had
promised that the government would not borrow money from the huge
Social Security Trust Fund. Then shortly before 9/11 he changed his
tine on that, that he would only raid the Social Security Trust Fund in
the event of war, recession, or a national emergency. Hence the joke
that all three of those conditions were satisfied with 9/11. Shortly
before 9/11 the Republicans were at the point where they would either
have had to roll back one of their huge tax cuts for the wealthy or
begin tapping the Social Security Trust Fund.

87. His remarks to David Letterman about his open-heart surgery
brought me to a full stop. It was during the 2000 campaign, DL was recently back from a serious hiatus for a heart problem and Bush said something about "cutting your chest open and fixin' yer heart" and whether or not he would sew him back up.

Does anybody else remember this? The audience was stunned. Bush obviously thought it was a great joke and I was left thinking, that's it. This stonehearted idiot is unelectable.

If anybody can find that footage, I wish we could get it back in circulation.

20. Let's see
1) Abu Graib
2) Gitmo
3) Blackwater
4) Ignoring the genocide in Darfur
5) Allowing Israel a much freer hand in dealing not so gently with the Palestinians.

I mean, our country had a great moral highground througout our history dating to the days of George Washington all the way through the Cold War where we didn't torture prisoners and treated them well. We were the good guys. Sure, we weren't perfect, but we were far better morally than the Soviets, China, the Nazis, the imperial Japanese, etc.

In just a few short years, George Bush has pissed all that away in ordering torture and allowing things like Abu Graib to happen on his watch.

32. And don't forget his encounter with just elected Sen. Jim Webb
Webb's son had just escaped a roadside bomb a few days earlier and Bush went up to Webb in a mocking tone and asked "how's your boy?"

Webb tried to be nice and said, "I'd like to get them out of Iraq."

Bush sharply replied, "That's not what I asked you, how's your boy?"

It's pretty clear from the exchange that Bush was threatening Webb and his son in a Mafia-esque manner...

12. The Daily Show had a great skit on that a while back
To summarize without being 100% accurate -basically Stewart was saying that there comes a time for every president where he has to deny what has become "conventional wisdom"...

First, with Richard Nixon saying, "I'm not a crook" when everybody knew he was a crook.

Then, with Bill Clinton saying, "I did not have sex with that woman," when everybody knew he had...

And, now with George W. Bush - cut to video of Bush saying, "nobody likes to see innocent people die."

When he met with a few Gold Star Mothers he was handing out Pres. coins. He told one Mother, as he handed her the coin, "Now don't put this on E-Bay." That is his notion of a little joke to a Mother who's son died in Iraq. Too bad that she didn't trow that coin on the ground and walk away.

many of us have noticed something very odd during Bush speeches -- when he talks about something like torture, capital punishment, or other violence done against people, he has this nasty tendancy to actually SMILE when he talks about it.

It's very unnerving to watch and leaves one with the impression he takes a certain amount of glee in what he's talking about.

I've spent 6+ years watching this guy. :puke: His love of bullying and putting people down with cruel/crude humor, his extreme machismo, his very thin skin, his taking delight in shoving firecrackers up frogs asses to blow them up -- those are the types of activites/attributes that point to a person who grows up to do very bad things. :(

There are several excellent pieces evaluating Bush by various mental health experts that are floating around on the Net -- you should really check them out. His acting innapropriately (the giggling, smirking, etc.) when discussing things such as torture, death, and other violence really indicate someone who has some serious issues.

72. George W. Bush on 9/11: 'But the day ended on a relatively humorous note.'
One of the most hard-hearted phrases ever uttered.

After thousands of innocent people were murdered -- due to his criminal negligence, at best, treason, most likely -- the satanic turd observed:

Ladies Home Journal:

Peggy Noonan (the interviewer): You were separated on September 11th. What was it like when you saw each other again?

Laura Bush: Well, we just hugged. I think there was a certain amount of security in being with each other than being apart.

George W. Bush: But the day ended on a relatively humorous note. The agents said, “you’ll be sleeping downstairs. Washington’s still a dangerous place.” And I said no, I can’t sleep down there, the bed didn’t look comfortable. I was really tired, Laura was tired, we like our own bed. We like our own routine. You know, kind of a nester. I knew I had to deal with the issue the next day and provide strength and comfort to the country, and so I needed rest in order to be mentally prepared. So I told the agent we’re going upstairs, and he reluctantly said okay. Laura wears contacts, and she was sound asleep. Barney was there. And the agent comes running up and says, “We’re under attack. We need you downstairs,” and so there we go. I’m in my running shorts and my T-shirt, and I’m barefooted. Got the dog in one hand, Laura had a cat, I’m holding Laura —

Laura Bush: I don’t have my contacts in , and I’m in my fuzzy house slippers —

George W. Bush: And this guy’s out of breath, and we’re heading straight down to the basement because there’s an incoming unidentified airplane, which is coming toward the White House. Then the guy says it’s a friendly airplane. And we hustle all the way back up stairs and go to bed.

Mrs. Bush: And we just lay there thinking about the way we must have looked.

Peggy Noonan (interviewer): So the day starts in tragedy and ends in Marx Brothers.

George W. Bush: That’s right — we got a laugh out of it.

laughing and looking for WMD's. And wasn't he laughing and teeing off just before ordering bombs on Baghdad?

49. The skit about the WMDs was disgusting.
Wasn't the point of it to laugh in the face of Americans who believed the lie?
All the death, maiming & suffering for this lie was funny? Many in the Corp. Media did laugh. Who was the joke on?

It was a typical IN YOUR FACE! bu$h moment. He does it all the time.

And to sneakysailor, I'll call him all the names I want! He demonstrates the great disdain he has for anyone who dares to criticize his horrific policies that case death and destruction, pain and suffering in this Country and around the World.

He's a sick, sick man and a poor excuse for a human being. You may not be able to criticize him, but you certainly don't have to defend him, do you?

48. How about the "joke" he made at the press corpse dinner a couple of years ago,
looking under his desk for the missing WMDs. "Nope, not here! Heh, heh, heh." And when he was visiting seriously injured soldiers in the hospital and "joked" to them about how he got injured, too, got scratched up while out clearing brush.

Fucking A-hole is about as sensitive as a toilet seat.

psychotic murderer. He couldn't care less about other people's kids being murdered in his illegal occupation and you can damn well bet he's enjoying every minute of it.

This thread already has numerous examples of his callous disregard for the lives of those in the military fighting for his illegal and unnecessary war.

It makes no sense to condemn people for pointing that out. If we don't, we'll only end up with more presidents like him.

80. Tucker Carlson was shocked at his heartlessness.
Tucker.

I've never liked the guy, but I always appreciated that story he'd published, because it always gives me hope that there are limits to what conservatives will tolerate in a leader. Tucker fell back into line, but you can tell when you read that piece that he was genuinely disturbed.

In the weeks before the execution, Bush says, a number of protesters came to Austin to demand clemency for Karla Faye Tucker. "Did you meet with any of them?" I ask. Bush whips around and stares at me. "No, I didn't meet with any of them", he snaps, as though I've just asked the dumbest, most offensive question ever posed. "I didn't meet with Larry King either when he came down for it. I watched his interview with Tucker, though. He asked her real difficult questions like, 'What would you say to Governor Bush?'" "What was her answer?" I wonder. "'Please,'" Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, "'don't kill me.'" I must look shocked — ridiculing the pleas of a condemned prisoner who has since been executed seems odd and cruel — because he immediately stops smirking.

When he was asked by a Hartford Courant reporter about what he spoke with his father about, George W. Bush's response was the one word, "Pussy."

77. Not to mention the quip about Carla Fay Tucker
She appealed her death sentence, and Bush jokes "Don't kill me, don't kill me", and fails to grant a pardon. If he fails to grant a pardon, his business (although I disagree with it), but don't make a joke about it.

If fact, the man executed a record number of people as the governor of Texas. No mercy, except for Scooter who might have actually told the truth and ratted him out.

To be fair, none other than Al Franken found that acceptably dark humor, on a certain level.

But most thought the idea of a President joking in a public skit about searching for WMD when soldiers were DYING in Iraq was disgusting.
