More efforts to discredit the Nobel Prize/Win: "Nobel Winner says Blacks less intelligent" (CNN )

Yep, right there on the front page under "latest news" that's the headline....

Then you go to the story and its a story about a 1962 Nobel winner in medicine has stated in a recent interview that blacks are less intelligent...

"Nobel Winner in 'racist' claim row"
http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/10/18/science.race/index.html

Wow, they are just full throttle in the Corporate Media to discredit the nobility and honor and significane of the Nobel Prize and any winners...

Gee, I wonder why? :eyes:

PS: As you read the story - it says "DON'T MISS: Al Gore shares Peace Prize....

It's also "highlighted" under latest news for Fox News's website front page...

6. I agree...I was shocked to see that someone who clearly has such a great scientific mind could also
be such a clueless racist. But then again, it proves that someones position and intelligence doesn't eliminate racism.

I was just struck by the way its positioned on the Fox and CNN pages. The headlines don't say "1962 Nobel winner Watson" - I believe that they are purposely left vague. And I've been seeing throughout the media over the last week the minimalizing of the win of the Nobel by Gore. This was just one more effort. And it doesn't mean the story about Watson isn't relevant, but like I said, its very subtle what else is being done.

3. I find your suggestion that the uproar over Watson's disgusting comments
is a political move to discredit Gore's, win, offensive and ludicrous. Get a clue.

5. Watson is a piece of racist crap - but I'm not wrong when I say that the media is trying to
discredit the significance of the Nobel prizes...

I got clues....lots. I suggest you think beyond the obvious and see what else is going and not insult people for bringing something up.

7. I find your derision of this beloved DUer offensive.
The OP was not offensive. She is just trying to connect some dots.

Instead of pointing out what you think is wrong with it, you resorted to ad hominem... again.

That's your problem, not mine.

10. You are not sorry.
You refuse to take responsibility for your actions.

How do you expect people to respect you and your accomplishments when you tarnish your reputation this way?

your respect. If you wish to continue chiding me, including mocking me for posting on a thread where I'm on ignore by the OP, that's entirely your business, but let me suggest that you look to your own behavior and I'll do the same. And let me add, that I feel my distaste for a certain crew, is understandable. I don't expect you to get that, for fairly obvious reasons.

13. You mock then blame it on someone else.
"I don't expect you to get that, for fairly obvious reasons." - Just what the fuck do you mean by that?

You have no sense of personal responsibility.

4. I think you are correct. The emphasis is intended to nominalize the Nobel Peace Prize. nt

9. This racist shithead has been spouting his nonsense for DECADES. Suddenly it's "news".
Not just news, but FRONT PAGE news.

That doesn't happen by accident. That story didn't
blow in the window and somehow "stick" in their
computers.

SOMEONE made a deliberate decision to put it there.
And they had some sort of REASON for that decision.

I don't believe "newsworthiness" was the reason, so
what was?

12. My point exactly....Suddenly Watson's racist views are FRONT PAGE BREAKING NEWS?
And as I pointed out above, they don't indicate in the headline his name or that he was a winner in 1962...I definitely think its purposely vague....

We all know what the reason is...its to minimalize and marginalize the relevance of the Nobel Prize and of Gore's win of one. That's why I posted this, because its so incredibly obvious to me and makes me so angry.
