Bush, Unfiltered
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 01:14 PM by Plaid Adder
On the way to PJ's well baby checkup we happened to catch some of Bush's latest press conference on the radio.

I'd forgotten what it's like to listen to that man talk. I swear he makes people dumber just by talking to them. We turned it on in the middle of his explanation of how what he does as president is put himself in the position where he can talk to other world leaders and they can trust him and how he was able to tell Putin that he didn't like the free press becoming less free and Putin didn't like that but he took it well and Putin was able to tell him that he didn't like Bush going into Iraq but they're still friend and he doesn't know whether Putin will be around after he (Bush) is gone but he's gonna sprint to the finish and after that we'll find him in Crawford.

My partner was just saying, wow, I guess it hasn't occurred to him that after his term is up he might, like, get a job, or do something useful, and all of a sudden we heard him talking about how what we need to do is "reprogram the basic Russian DNA, which is centralization."

We said, "What?"

Dude, you don't go live at a press conference telling people you want to reprogram an entire sovereign nation's DNA. Anyway, how the hell does that metaphor even work? The desire to set up massive centralized bureaucracies is just part of the Russian genetic code as refined by evolution? It wasn't, like, a Soviet thing?

My partner's theory is that he just repeats things that his advisors say to him in public without realizing that there ought to be some sort of filter. I figure probably since they have to explain things like diplomacy to him in terms that a six year old would understand, he then turns around and does that to the press corps, without realizing that not everyone converses on that level.

Someday, we'll have a president who can think and talk at the same time. Then, we will wonder how we survived 8 years of this kind of national humiliation.

Criminy,

The Plaid Adder

1. It is painful for me to listen to him.
I caught about 5 minutes of his press conference this morning and that was all I could stand.

He is an absolute fucking idiot.

16. I yelled an obscenity at my car radio, then shut it off
Damn, Bush sounds more like Foster Brooks every time he speaks in public. Ugh.

I was subjected to, not only his voice, but, actually, watched him on CNN... a double assault to the senses. :puke:

9. Every time I hear him say "nucular" I want to scream.
And he says that word often. It is NUCLEAR, you asswipe. Even my 14 year old daughter once asked me how someone so illiterate became President. I just don't have an answer for her.

10. "he just repeats things that his advisors say to him in public without realizing that there ought "
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 06:11 PM by Beetwasher
I've made this observation numerous times. Like the trifecta joke. There are lot's of examples. He has no self control and blurts out things he's been told in private that he doesn't realize he's NOT supposed to repeat. He also often lets slip the truth by "kidding on the square".

12. Rotten way to start the day!
Got my first cup of coffee and flicked the television on, only to find "it" behind the podium trying to sound intelligent. I swear he curdled the milk in my coffee. Ick. Reaching for the remote to change the channel, I relented and conceded that it was necessary for me to undergo the stress of listening to him mangle both language and logic. How can I try to help others see the precipice he's shoved us to if I don't at least try to keep up? So, there I sat, expletives bursting into my mind with virtually every utterance that fell from his mouth. Probably a good thing that I'm not a member of the White House press corps, as guffawing at the idiot-in-chief probably merits a swift one-way ticket to Gitmo. That said, when it was over I spent a few moments grieving for the nation that used to enjoy the respect of the world. On the blackboard of America's history, Bush is a giant fingernail.

13. And the President is what....Black?
One of the world's most eminent scientists is at the centre of a row after claiming black people are less intelligent than whites.

James Watson, who won the Nobel Prize for his part in discovering the structure of DNA, has drawn condemnation for comments made ahead of his arrival in Britain tomorrow for a speaking tour.

Compared to the leader of the free world at that press conference, I am very happy being black!:eyes:

18. My daughter saw him gibbering on TV yesterday
and thought he should be medicated and hospitalized instead of running around loose. She thinks he's REALLY falling apart.

I can't stand to watch him myself, but I tend to agree.
