Congressional GOP: 'We are not happy'
"It's just stunning to me," one veteran Republican strategist told me this week, "that after seven years of Republicans complaining that the president won't use his veto, choose their big showdown to be over children's health care. Good Lord, it probably polls at 80 percent!"

Added the GOP insider: "If we had been talking about cutting spending and waste in government for years, we could oppose SCHIP. But now we are finally going to get religion on spending?"

So what advice would this Republican give his party's Members of Congress? "If I were in a swing district, I'd vote to override. There's no way I'd take a bullet on this."

5. So why do they line up to smooch his filthy tush
in speech after speech on the floor of the House? And we think the Dems are spineless. Rs are even more spineless...and ball-less too. Apparently they require a lead lemming to follow off of a cliff.

8. Welcome to the club, congressional GOP
There's a whole dimension of pissed-off that you haven't got the foggiest notion about. But if you've finally crept the first couple of millimeters into the outrage zone, congratulations. You have much to learn about how badly you guys, your party, and your president have fucked up this country in the last six years. Did you know, for example, that Bush inherited a budget surplus from his predecessor before he went on a toot of record-breaking annual deficits? And what do we have to show for all this deficit spending? Health care? Better roads? Nicer, newer schools? A national wi-fi network? Nope, we have none of that. All this country has to show for all its deficit spending under George Bush and you are two worn-out, unpopular, Treasury-sucking wars that you and your colleagues are determined to keep going for the next decade, at least.

So don't think me uncharitable if I say fuck you, congressional Republicans.
