1. I saw it a few months ago, and think...
...we're in real danger of ending up with a society something like that. As for the movie itself, I thought it had quite a few well-observed moments, but that they could have done so much more with it. I'd love to see a better movie on the same topic.

3. I haven't seen it yet.
You know, my favorite movies these days are documentaries. I'll definitely check this one out.

4. Excellent movie
I was thinking about how the RWers are proud that their birth rate is higher than ours, and, therefore, will end up being the majority in this country especially since, oh, they are so certain, kids follow the footsteps of their parents in thumping the bible, etc.

These claims were in the back of my wind while watching the movie.

And now, on occasions, they have some ads on TV - not even sure for what - with "dudes" talking like "Wayne World" and I am reminded of the characters in the movie.

Come to think of it, this is why we stopped watching SNL - with "Wayne World."

5. What kept it from being funny was that it was too spot-on.
Way too easy to see that happening. Scary shit.

6. I just saw it this week and thougt the premise was great and there were
some terrific scenes. I think they could have done more too but I was still impressed. Also, it was scary to see what may come to pass in many ways...

7. That was my feeling.
That sucker hit a little too close to home.

It took some of the giggle out of me while watching.

9. the concept was ok but the movie was just to STUPID to sit
through. I had to stop watching it after about a half an hour. just my personal, subjective opinion. :hi:

13. I thought it was great until I realized two things:
1) The two main characters are supposed to be precisely average Americans. The man is a soldier. The woman is a prostitute.

2) The scene at the beginning where the middle class smarty pants couple and the trailer park family are both featured is so disgustingly classist it's nauseating.

Other than that, it was great and had a lot to say in an amusing way.

14. don't you know that only prostitutes are females in movies?
no other woman has an interesting life or can have sex without wanting to be married because that's "offensive" to mainstream america. so prostitutes are the symbol for all the women of the world who are not the producers' mommies.

16. that's "Idiocracy," heh.
To tell you the truth, I thought the intro to the movie was the best thing about it. The movie itself was a poor execution of a great concept.

18. I saw many months ago, instantly became one of my favorite movies.
The supporting cast was really good, the leads were okay. If anything, the casting for the leads could've been a little better. Maybe Matthew Broderick. Other than that it was so g-damn great. The plot is fine, the movie really is more about concept rather than plot.

That scene where our hero is in the movie theater wondering why people are laughing at an hour and a half of some guys butt on a screen is the way I feel most of the time.

BTW, the woman being a prostitute is a statement about today, not a statement about the inherent qualities of women. If you'll notice, all the women are in the movie are viewed almost exclusively sexually. Pornography has saturated every level of culture. All the movie is doing, is taking where we are today, and plotting the trajectory in a few centuries. Personally, I don't think it'll take that long, a few more decades and Jerry Springer will be taught at University.

This movie was not promoted well at all when it came out. That's a shame.
