Maybe Al should turn down the Nobel
It doesn't appear to be a stepping stone to greater things but rather a reward for past deeds.

The list is dominated by politicians and statesmen whose careers in public office had ended or were soon to end: Jimmy Carter in 2002, Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in 1973, former Secretary of State George Marshall in 1953, and Vice President Charles G. Dawes in 1925.

The one Peace Prize winner who tried to stage a political comeback failed.

1. I don't think Al is persuing a career in politics at this moment
And the prize if awarded will shine light on the issue he is working on at the moment. And one I might add that is a bit more important than slugging it out in a political arena.

2. PErhaps GOre
isn't interested in using this as a political stepping stone. From everything I've heard, Gore is done with politics.

4. What about TR and MLK?

Teddy got his with 3 more years to serve out his presidency, while King got his a year after "I Have a Dream" (and was the youngest Peace Prize winner ever!)

Besides, I'd hardly call Jimmy Carter washed up, by any stretch of the imagination...

5. He is focusing on political careers
Under the assumption that Gore still wants to partake in the political arena.

6. Well, it's just ridiculous--trying to imagine the award as a stepping stone.
How many people do you hear saying: "...but then, after I won the Nobel Peace Prize, my career REALLY took off?"

7. Frustration is rampant
And it drives people to emotional frenzies.
