Get as many people to make these phone calls.

Call GOP contributor and war contractor General Electric Corporation at 203 373 2211 and ask for the public relations department. Tell the person in public relations that you want the GE CEO to get Bush to end the war in Iraq and then Bush resign with Cheney and until that happens you will not buy any GE products and that you will tell your friends about this.

Call GOP contributor Rite Aid at 1-800-325-3737 and tell the person to get the CEO to get the GOP to enact HR 676 Single payer health care and repeal Medicare Part D and place the drug benefit in Medicare Part B covering 80% of drugs with no extra premiums, no extra deductibles, no means tests, no coverage gaps, and remove the means test for Medicare Part B and until that happens, you won't buy ANYTHING from Rite Aid.

Call GOP contributor Wendy's restaurants at 614 764-3553 and Tell the person in public relations that you want their CEO to get the GOP to help enact a $10/HR MIN. WAGE into law and until this happens you will not go to a Wendy's Restaurant.

1. If you really want to end this war.
Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 12:29 PM by liberaldemocrat7

If you really want to end this war and more, make these phone calls.

You have nothing to lose. At least you will express your demand to end the war, enact HR 676, and increase the minimum wage to $10/hr. and you can easily find another source of light bulbs and high ticket items and you can easily find a different drug store chain and a differen place to eat.

You really have nothing to lose by making these phone calls.

2. Wendy's
No offense, but do you really expect a company that pays less than $10/hour to most of its employees to demand that Congress reduce their profits?

Why just Wendy's? Almost the entire restaurant industry runs on the same profit model.

4. If that's your issue with them, why go at all?
If your problem with them is that they're supportive of the GOP, don't link your patronage to some unrealistic standard that they'll never meet.

Just don't go there.

5. The Republican party office holders appear insulated from the public

So companies that gie money to the GOP do not apepar insulated from the public

We're taking "economic hostages" here by getting thousands of people to call these companies and say unless you lobby the Republican party for our progressive legislation, you can forget about us doing business with you.

The more people who call these companies the more pressure we can place on these GOP contributors.

Attempt to do that with your local GOP congressman or senator who might not care about your issues because he or she has a safe seat.

6. So, in other words, you're threatening something that you're doing anyway.
You're most likely not going to patronize them in the first place (right?), so you're going to call them and tell them that you won't patronize them unless they commit financial suicide by demanding that Congress put them out of business.

Let's, for a moment, assume that they promise to do what you demand. If they do contact Congress, are you suddenly going to start giving them business? The answer would seem to be a rather obvious no.

That being the case, why not just call them and tell them you won't go there because they support the GOP? That's significantly more accurate. I guess I don't understand the point in adding the false statement to the demand.

All of which is irrelevant. Wendy's has millions of customers. Even "thousands of people" (a rather optimistic estimate on your part if you're expecting that number from DU) calling and discontinuing business with them is irrelevant to their bottom line, especially if those people weren't going to patronize them in the first place.
