The suspect is an employee of the Forest County Sheriff's Department and a part-time officer for the Crandon Police Department.

Several State Patrol officers went to Forest County to help investigators, the dispatcher said.

"It's a pretty tragic situation here," said County Supervisor Tom Vollmar, who lives just outside Crandon, a city of about 2,000 people. "There are five or six people dead."

Damn! That is rage.

3. A couple of related questions
The news reported that the entire town was put under "lockdown" and given a gag order.

Can someone please explain to me just how the Hell you put an entire town under lockdown?! And while your at it please please explain to me how you put a gag order on entire "F"ing town?!

I'm not being sarcastic in these questions. I really want someone to explain how this could be done outside Martial Law.

5. I hope you're noticing the creeping lock downs
A lock down is a curfew and is not too far from Martial Law.
I wonder if anyone is keeping count of all these lock downs.

10. Valid point
lock down, curfew, martial law -they all violate freedom of movement.
Bush's America is frightening.

8. You're from a populated urban area. Some communties are VERY small & remote
It was posted in another thread that the community where this happened is VERY remote. Living in such a place myself, I could see how easily it could be done. Block the three routes in with outside law enforcement and invite any outbound locals in for some coffee and isolation. Nobody else in town would even know there was a blockade. Easy enough to arrange a power and phone failure. Small, remote communities have that sort of trouble often enough that nobody raises an eyebrow for the first couple hours.

No power, no phone, no internet, no travel

We could do it here with five people.
