If 2008 is Obama vs. hard righty, America will choose between MLK and Bull Connor
If GOP voters have anything to do with who their nominee is, it will be someone who makes Baby Bush look like Mr. Rogers, and will probably be a few degrees to the right of Bull Connor.

Even if the GOP money succeed in inserting someone like McCain or Guiliani, who isn't obviously racist & ignorant, they would not be able to help themselves but lean on the race card hard.

The last time America had that choice, we chose MLK. I think we would do so again.

8. Bull Connor as in the nasty, nasty sheriff in the South during Civil Rights
Movement. I remember seeing him in the MLK documentary, Eyes on the Prize. Big, burly, mean-looking guy in a big hat pushing people around.

2. It will be Guiliani or Romney, neither of whom is regarded as a hard-righty
Pat Robertson pretty much endorsed Guiliani over the weekend.

4. he's wired into establishment. He told the same lie Tom Friedman did on Iraq oil before the war
that it would break the back of OPEC and drive prices down. So they were appealing to the greed of those a bit to smart to buy Bush's hatful of shit about WMD and terrorists.

5. The hard right would find anything to destroy any democrat we choose
As an Obama supporter I really believe the race thing is just convienent for them. I do suspect they will go harder after the muslim smear.
But, any dem that is chosen is going to get slammed.
One nice thing about the Aussie Pm saying what he did is that gave everyone a chance to see that Obama will not take sliming and will come out swinging.

7. something similar is the main and possibly only good thing about Hillary...
we know she won't wither under the assault or back down. On the other hand, she may choose to agree with the bastards at times that put a knife in the rest of us.

9. Obama won't take the slime like Kerry did
Obama is much better about thinking on his feet and is quite the fighter. He'll make mincemeat out of the right.

10. Repugs will have a tough problem dealing with Obama, someone is brilliant
in the background and coupled with Barrack's own intelligence, he's moving nicely. What is it 30 months until the election? Musch can be accomplished, many people can make serious mistakes, Biden, for example...

11. biden's mistake was saying he was running. He'd make a great golfing buddy or tennis partner but
I wouldn't trust him to take care of the us after that bankruptcy bill and a couple of other choice stabs.
