Let's get down to brass tacks: Everything turned to shit for the Mets...out in front, cocksure of themselves, made fun of Jimmy Rollins of the Phillies for saying that the Phillies were the "Team to Beat" in the NL East in the beginning of the season, all big shot New Yorker swagger.
But the truth caught up with them...they were swept and swept and swept again by the Phillies, they also lost to crappy teams, and they just blew it completely and when they were confronted with their inadequacies, they were sad and admitted that they had let their teammates and City down. Pretty graceful, (speaking as a lifelong Philadelphian who despises the Mets and the Islanders) I must say.
Your Administration in D.C. however, when confronted with failure of almost Biblical proportions, redoubles their arrogance and obnoxiousness which I never thought was possible, since I thought they'd hit that zenith, or nadir, a long time ago. Can't ever sell these 'folks' short, can you?
So there's the lesson for today folks....BTW, wasn't this a brilliant way of getting the Phillies' Big Win into GD?
Just kidding, mods...the analogy's pretty good I think.
And as far as the Mets fans go, well:
