A long time ago - feels like to me - I wrote this book -
Just memories of a war a long time ago. I would never mention my uncle - I know he would never approve of the criticism leveled against the US army - I knew.

SO I would not do that in good conscience - ever bring up that name.

Dad did though - that was different. Cause he would and did. He told me once of guys that took FDR detractors - around an alley and beat the shit out of them - I thought good for them!! Sorry for democracy.

Bad for democracy - good for us. I felt no remorse for that. I thought, still do - those guys were great. I trust them.

Joe

I want my name disassociated from Clark - he and I parted ways a little while ago.

A long time ago - my uncle commanded a regiment in the war - And I question if he even knows those kids anymore. They are not the same kids that went thru Irwin anymore -they grew up.

Oh - general - what do you know of those kids now?????????

My uncle was a general - and my kid is in his army - tell me what you know of the kids??

Joe

5. War is the same- war for war, They just are. All the same.
Even in the best of causes.

He said something, dad did, to me once - rings in my ears - The guy did 79 missions over Germany - that "don't you ever believe the army too much - that doing so will get you killed."

Damn - how prophetic.

I listen to - Clark - but I know dad had at least two campaign ribbons - 3 DFCs - purple hearts with oak leaves - a POW medal and all that. More

And even he differed to my grand uncle -

So who are you genral Clark - who are you???? You did what?t Screw you. My uncle could have had a tank named after him - you did what exactly?? tell me about war.

Dad said if you do you do - if you can't you teach - I think he was right.

My dad ran an oil company.

Joe

6. It must be heartbreaking then to realize one whom you were taught
to respect no longer earns such in your eyes.........but Joe, we never always know another persons reasons why, we can be angry, feel betrayed and yet this is something I do for those that have been close to me in the past and the present, I can't help it, I force myself to find excuses for ones thoughts and behaviors regardless even when I know how wrong they were...it doesn't hurt and in some ways it lessens the pain.

7. Oh - my uncle was right -if you thought 3rd army in a 1945
sense -

My family - you joined the priesthood or the army - very western european.

I underatand him - I will not cross him - he did the deal. Grand uncle or not.

How many should be on his conscience???

Dad killed a lot - lot of people - so how many did he kill a hundred times a thousnd times?? Does it matter?

It is funny - we have a saint in my family - you know??

I remember the "least of my borthers" thing - stupid me, I believed it.

So do those people go to hell??

This is running so goddamn deep to me now.

Joe

see the point??

9. I am not so sure that I believe in the concept of heaven or hell any longer, too much
of it all just does not make common sense, I was raised Catholic and used to fear it when I was younger and unable to actually think for myself how inane it all is when far too many individuals seem to be living what some would consider hell and or heaven right here on earth while they still are very much alive...

As far as your Uncles mindset, yes I do get the point and I do understand but I also understand having a pretty similar family that in most case the reality of it all was not talked about as openly as such might be in today's world because it would not have been exceptable, so instead they drank to help them forget but perhaps it could be compared to some mindsets today if it were ever trully discussed openly.

man - I think if there is a god - you only go to hell if you do something really, really bad,

I think this. Most of us - We are meant to go on.

I make no judgement of others belief or disbelief - really I do not.

You know of Jesus? - that is it for me as a missionary - up to you at that point.

Maytbe we die and that is it. Maybe. But maybe - we go on - maybe this whole life was just something we had to learn to go on??

I think we have something to learn - and when we get it - we go on.

Maybe the lesson is diffrent for all of us, too.

I think it is white in the end - all white.

Joe

10. Why you think that -
I read of the greek account up to the persian war - they didn't think that.

I fact reminded me of dad in the war.

This is all some cheap repeat of the past at his point.

11. I dont always believe in written historical written accounts that remained
available to the public, one should never take any historic writings left as gospel since it is pretty obvious that such is not always factual but rather people then like now seem to like stories that may dramatize more or even lessen the drama of an actual event, so that is what they got.

If you have never saw on the Discovery channel what forensics seems to have discoverd concering Custards last stand as well as many other old war stories that have been shown to be inconsistant towards reality you would take older stories with a grain of salt as to thier vailidity on saying what honestly happened.

Critical thinking be damned.

You know what historiograohy is?? - It is an excerise in critical thinking. God Lynn is right. There was a show on picketts charge- history detectives - you see that??

I have been there many times- the emmitsbrug and the baltimore road -approx - meet there - they say - reason that charge failed - many CSA coward along the road - I have been there many times.

Answer me this - You might scare in that face - how do you do that to Lee - cause they predict that. And Based on cartride fragments ? - load of shit.

I don't trust the source - even me.

to this country right now.

That isn't to say that I don't have faith I do, it has just became different through the years, I no longer believe in any supreme being watching over this planet, because just far too many horrific horrors are visited on innocents all to often and I find it extremely unerving to believe that God follows sports and the like and picks winning teams...I hope you understand...I have my faith and it's personal, I don't mock yours I promise. I hope this comment did not upset you because it was not my intention I promise.
