Free Republic flame war on Giuliani
There are already tons of them raging over at FR, but this one post stuck me as amusing:

To: veronica
As a Conservative first and Republican second, Rudy presents some irreconcilable differences for me.

Rudy Duncan
--------------- -----------------------
Pro-abort Pro-life
Gun grabber Pro-2nd amendment
Pro-queer Pro-traditional family
Pro-RINO Conservative
Lots 'o baggage Just a small carryon :)

Duncan Hunter is the ONLY declared conservative in the race.

Primaries are about philosophy, general elections are about parties.

...This guy acts as though Duncan Hunter is the second coming of Christ, when in fact, Hunter has "lots 'o baggage" as well. He's tied to the freakin' Duke Cunningham scandal! (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/1/22/194944/222) And while Freepers make Rudy out to be no different than us, he's still an authoritarian prick? Kerik, Louima, Diallo, and more trivial matters like the Brooklyn Musuem of Art show him for his douche-baggery. Fact is that most Republicans are the same, regardless of their opinions on individual issues. They mostly a bunch of narcissists.

1. I hope they DO go for Duncan Hunter.
He's so insane that only a handful of swing voters would consider him.

Unfortunately, for the Dems, there are a lot of swing voters who like Guiliani.

Please, Republics! Please vote for Hunter as your nominee!

3. You know who Der Rudyfuhrer reminds me of?

He reminds me of The Evil Captain Kirk

Mirror, Mirror (TOS episode)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Mirror, Mirror" is an episode of Star Trek: The Original Series. It is a second season episode, #33, production #39, and was broadcast for the first time on October 6, 1967. It was repeated on April 12, 1968. It was written by Jerome Bixby and directed by Marc Daniels.

The episode introduces the alternate reality "Mirror Universe" concept in Star Trek for the first time. The episode has a transporter mishap swapping Captain Kirk and his companions with their evil counterparts in a parallel universe. In the so-called Mirror Universe, the Enterprise is a ship of the Empire rather than the Federation, promotions are earned by assassination, and Mr. Spock has a beard.

<snip>

Fortunately, their fears of what their counterparts could be doing in their universe are groundless. Back on the USS Enterprise Mr. Spock immediately discovers the personae of his Captain and the rest of the landing party have changed significantly and orders security to take them to a holding cell. The mirror Kirk tries to bribe Spock with rewards of "his own command" if he's freed. Spock simply replies "fascinating" and goes about his investigation into what has happened. Spock determines that the ion storm must have opened a barrier between parallel universes, and somehow, the landing team's counterparts switched places.

4. there was a thread here awhile back, revisting the outrage in 1999, re:
a GWB presidency!

IIRC, Jim Rob himself was highly against that possibility

those freeper posts were just as entertaining as these

thanks

5. Really surprised Mike Huckabee & Tommy Thompson don't even get mentioned
He's the Republican's biggest threat if you ask me.

Obvisuly Rudy has problems with social conservatives

McCain has problems ranging from his age to his 'surge',

Hunter, Tancredo, Brownback are all insane

Mitt is Mormon

John Cox, Ron Paul, and Michael Charles Smith are nobody's

Hagel is too much of a maverick

Michael Savage probably won't run and let's just think about if he did...

Newt, yeah let's just think about that for another second too...

That leaves Huckabee and Thompson. Both are governors who remain pretty popular in their states. Thompson even served as Secretary of Health and Human Services on the national level. His Roman Catholic and Midwest state ties would play well in the general election.

Huckabee doesn't have much national experience, but he does have a compelling story. He was 300 pounds until he started excersing and eating right all while in office. He even wrote a book called "Quit Digging Your Grave With Your Knife and Fork". That kind of weight loss (and coping with diabets) appeals to a lot of Americans and that would play out more milage than I think a lot of people think.

Both men have flaws too, but they are much in the Bush 2000 mold of a governor who is friendly with conservatives and business types and appeals to the common man.

goes far beyond the abilities of the most talented parodist!

they're sort of like a really ignorant, barely coherent, delusional version of DU:

RINOs, traitorous media (never holding dems accountable), accepting the lesser evil, etc.

here's my favorite recap so far:

one can only hope that jpg comes true

9. man....how can you possibly make this stuff up?

As things shape up in the near future (08) if Hellary wins then the United States as we have known it for the last 200 plus years will soon cease to exist soon after her inauguration.

She has repeatedly said for the last 40 plus years she want to redistribute the wealth and that America is a global village.

Hellary is a follower of communist and socialist thinking for all of those years.

Hellary's hero's have left their black marks of socialism all over the pages of history.

the above is the last post on the first thread linked. It, (along with as much of the introductory opinion piece as one can bear to read), are guaranteed to send even the unaligned reader into paroxysms of unbelieving mirth

Hellary? love it!

why no Hitlery?

"Ditto that. But, then he wouldn't get the media attention that he does, and he would never have been mayor of NYC. The MSM wants him because it's a real smash in the teeth for social conservatives if he is able to get the support of the Republican party."
Bwahahahahaha!
