We love to rip on the media for ignoring the big issues in favor of non-stop OJ, Ann Nicole, Paris and Brittney.

But how are we any different?

Yesterday it was breastfeeding.

Today it's some kid getting tasered.

Used to be, you could log on to these boards and read people talk about the world's important events of the day.

That was then.

Some of us are still working while others are off on a tirade. Others of us can some how manage to go off on a tirade and still do good works (a skill I personally lack).

Yes, GD can become distracted. However, there are tools to help put it back on tack for the individual user.

There are also several other forums to post on here. LBN being one of the very best on all of DU for real information. I've sent people from all over the world to DU's LBN and not ever heard one complaint on its content.

DU is what we make it.

10. If you think that tasering was a non-issue, you are mistaken.

It is the creep of fascism in front of your eyes.

It will have a chilling effect on fee speech in universities.

It emboldens the police to act the same way again.

It was an important event and the fact that we do not recognize it as such is the true measure of how much danger this country is in.
