Every time I read it I keep hearing the "I'm an excellent driver" line out of the movie Rainman. It's quoted as if to show how perceptive he was in seeing the ambiguity and unknown. But to me it has about as much depth as an autistic's repeated mumblings and does nothing more than put a polish on his cluelessness.

1. Petraus is just trying to help his buddies. He wants to help cheney and
corporate America/Britain steal the only resource the Iraqis have. He wants to help his boy george fend off outright defeat until he's gone back to whatever hole in the ground he plans to scoot to when he's done sullying OUR White House, and he has his own 'legacy' to think about now that he is so tied up in whatever eventually happens in Iraq.

He's not at all concerned about OUR country or Iraq.
