Why Do Some Folks Here Compare Fredrerick 90027 To Reagan?
Let me preface my remarks by saying I am not a fan of Reagan but that doesn't prevent me from understanding the man's appeal.. Reagan was an ok actor who became a politician out of a deep interest in politics and devotion to a cause; in his case conservatism... He was a two term governor of the most populous state in the Union and came within a couple dozen delegates in 1976 of beating the incumbent president (Ford) for the nomination of his own party... He was comfortable in any meliu... He carried New York and California twice:

Frederick 90027 looks like the guy who is making his third round at the Golden Buffet:

1. They're both actors. They've both got a lazy streak.
That's where the resemblance ends, I'm afraid. Reagan was capable of snowing the rubes with an "Aw, shucks, ma'am" shtik. Thompson is only capable of "Get off my lawn!"

3. The Cancer Part Is Rough
But besides the fact they are actors I don't see any similarities...

I guess Owen Wilson could be president...

7. Thompson is a lame excuse for a clone
but the comparison is valid - he is an empty shell the cabal behind the movement to dismantle our constitutional government hopes to use as a "front" so they can continue their efforts. gwb was the same thing. Being an actor is not the similarity; being a mindless shill is.

11. The Reason Reagan "Worked " Is Because He Had Charisma
If Abe Vigoda espoused the same views and had the same ambition it would be my contention he couldn't parlay that into becoming president...

That's the salient difference...

15. I'd for for Abe Vigoda
if for nothing else than Fish's classic line on the Barney Miller hash brownie episode( I'm sure this isn't exact but its close) upon finding out his heroic capture of a burglary suspect was done "under the influence" : "first time in decades I felt really good, and it has to be illegal".

8. Reagan was in a movie called "Law And Order,"
Fred was in a TV series called Law & Order.

Fred playacts the role of Ronald Reagan, the actor. He is the answer to the question Where do you go as a country after you've had an actor become President by pretending to be "Presidential"?

Naturally, you find yourself a second actor to simulate the simulated personal characteristics of the first actor. It makes for better realism.

10. Actually, on "L&O", Fred palyed the part of... pre-mayoral Rudy Giuliani!
Kinda funny, when you think about it.
