Police arrest nude driver on the toll road

ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) - Indiana State Police arrested a naked man who was driving on the Indiana Toll Road, saying the 37-year-old Chicago man's conduct distracted other motorists.

Trooper Al Martinez says the man was nude and had petroleum jelly on his hands when he was pulled to the side of the road about 10 miles west of the Ohio line on Wednesday.

The man told Martinez he was traveling to Ohio to visit his mother and said he was comfortable driving in the nude.

Other motorists had called police about the driver, with several calls from truckers who could see into the front seat of the SUV.

Martinez made the man put his clothes back on before he handcuffed him and put him in the back of the squad car.

The man was released Thursday from the Steuben County Jail on $1,000 bond.
