I Wish Gore Would Have A Bus He Traveled On Like Willie Nelson Does
where it runs on vegetable oil or biodiesel or whatever it runs on

i say this because i turned on fox noise the other night (bored & channel surfing) and hannity was on. rather than click him off i watched for a few minutes and all he was doing was bitching about gore chartering a private plane to fly from here to there to another place. blablabla.

and i remembered what randi has said about willie nelson's tour bus--that it runs on biodiesel and thought if gore did that then these fuckers that love to bitch about him (gore) would have to come up with something else. and shut up about this hypocrite crap.

if gore got himself a biodiesel tour bus it would get him a ton of positive publicity (at least i think it would) and it *would* be better for the environment.

so..i just wanted to share this thought w/you.

2. interesting piece. i guess i do expect gore to be different or better
than most celebrities

maybe it comes down to the hypocrite thing--we're so fucking tired of all these repuke hypocrites that signs of hypocrisy in any dem is not as tolerated as it might have been before.

but it is an environmental thing too.

and it would be a great idea (imo) for him to have a green (literally) tour bus running on alternative fuel

(it's almost the same principle that i have with my daughter about certain things. i expect her to do the right thing because i know she is capable of it whereas, in my mind, i don't have the same high standards for her friends because i don't have the same faith in them as i do in my child. does that make sense?)

4. Yes I see your point.

But I can't get into the attack the messenger frame of mind when the message is so important.

If Gore's carbon footprint can be offset by waking people up then it's carbon well spent.

I've been working harder to lessen my footprint after seeing Inconvenient Truth and Climate change has become a topic of conversation, where it wasn't before Gore's film.

If you'er looking for saints you aren't going to find them.

3. Yeah its a fine idea. But There's something deeply flawed with Hannity's logic.

That the people who are against the environment should have the benifit of speedy private travel while those who are for it shouldn't. If Al Gore can reach more people by taking the plane, then there's no reason why he should turn away from it and let some oil tycoon fly in it in his place. Gore's not preaching any dogma, he's pointing out the problems we face with the status quo, that's it.

8. more hypocrisy

"There's something deeply flawed with Hannity's logic... That the people who are against the environment should have the benifit of speedy private travel while those who are for it shouldn't."

Exactly!

I'm sure Hannity and company would be VERY happy to see Gore spend a majority of his time on a bus away from his office and family. In the same way that they are in Iraq fighting for the war they believe in ... oh wait

5. Hannity's lying about how Gore travels
Back when Gore was VP, and his travel schedule needed to be kept secret for security reasons, he did fly in Ayr Force Two and private planes. Since he became a private citizen, Gore hardly ever travels by private plane. He does do a very large amount of international environmental lobbying (and business) which require him to fly. (Watch "An Inconvenient Truth" and you'll see footage of him schlepping his suitcases through airports like the rest of us.)

Gore takes commuter trains a lot when he's traveling around the east coast. He drives a hybrid and has it written into his speaking contracts that the folks who hire him must make every possible effort to drive him to the event and hotel in hybrids. Gore buys green power for his home and businesses, and they are all carbon neutral. (It took him a number of years to add solar to his house because the local zoning laws had to be changed first.)

Gore does a lot of things which should actually get him positive publicity - - for example, driving a hybrid - - but you'll never learn that watching folks like Hannity. Folks like Hannity aren't looking for positive stories about Gore (or any other Dem). They are looking things which will make Gore look like a hypocrite, because it does turn potential supporters off.

I would bet money if Gore was driving around the country in a vehicle powered by biodiesel, Hannity would do a three hour expose about how biodiesel is actually the most environmentally harmful fuel anybody could use, and Gore's use of biodiesel proves what an environmental hypocrite he is.

And if Gore was driving around the country in the first working hydrogen powered car whose only waste product was water vapor, Hannity would be doing a six hour expose about how the water vapor coming from Gore's exhaust pipes is responsible for the latest round of MidWestern flooding.

7. Oh yes, Live Earth did nothing to get publicity for this cause
And our only concern is about what Sean Hannity the paid RW mouthpiece thinks of him. :sarcasm:
