Tough Questions for Nader
Ralph Nader is now contemplating his fourth presidential race and the media seems content to continue not asking him tough questions. At this stage of the presidential cycle, Nader, who is outspoken in his criticisms of the Democratic Party, could just as easily run for the Democratic nomination. Why doesn't he? I mean, beyond the obvious that he wouldn't win, but I think that if he has so many strong opinions about the makeup and composition of the party, he should run and try to change things from the inside. Then, it might make more sense to me if he ran as an independent after losing.

He might say, "oh, well Kucinich is in the race and he represents my views closely." Well, Ralph, what does that tell you about the democratic process within the Democratic Party? It tells me that those views are not popular enough within the party to win a majority or even plurality of voters. Which furthermore tells me, Ralph, your independent movement has little legitimacy IF it is solely aimed at holding accountable the Democratic Party.

6. Nader --- supports the Repukes
Edited on Sat Feb-10-07 08:58 AM by PhilipShore
Nader --- is an arm chair liberal, in other words he never actually organized a demo, in the 60s or 70s. The Repukes made him into a liberal cult god, and with the help of Michael Moore (a communist), they could discredit the peace movement.

But there was one flaw in the Repukes thinking, the peace movement died in the late 60s.

To prove this --- if one would actually ask Nader or Moore their thought of liberals, they and their groupies answer that they hate jews (Anti-Zionism) and the of course liberals.

The perfect idea of of the liberal in the Repukes mind, pro Arab, and anti-liberal to disrupt any liberals that want to revive the peace movement.

In a mulchy sort of way. I looked at the markup for the page and see that it's set to play a sound, but not in a way that my browser Firefox can do it. I can only hear it if you sing it for me :)

26. Free to disagree, Please Apologize for being rude
Feel free to disagree, but on this thread you agree with me:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=post&forum=389&topic_id=174141&mesg_id=174155

without calling me names

and then you come to this thread, apparently you disagree, and then instead of saying so you start calling me names. What's up with that? I think you should apologize to me.

29. Deal - if/when you appologize
for mocking other duers with outrageous statements that don' fit the sentiments expressed in threads. Lets see - the Putin thread had a lot of folks pointing out the irony of Putin being so well-accepted by bush - noted the kgb links or expressed the 'i agree' as in a yikes sorta tone yet your post was mocking as if all of the posts up thread were somehow putin adoring. Similar apporach per the spike in the number of recent troops fatalities. So when you appologize for the mocking (and stating things in terms that most other posters were not stating - and doing so to the entire thread and community (by linking to the OP rather than to a specific post if one was truley responding to the expressed sentiment you were suggesting was the norm) - then i will happily appologize for my indirect reference.

24. I have no particular stance on nader;
I neither like him, nor dislike him. I do know that "nader brought us 8 years of bush" is propaganda, and an outright lie.

Election fraud brought us 8 years of bush. Even with what I considered to be a weak campaign, and a weak running mate, Gore got enough votes (one of them mine) to win. A better campaign could have made his victory more decisive, to be sure, but it wasn't nader that beat him.

disclaimer: please note that I did not step in to talk about whether or not anyone should "like" or "hate" nader. I'm not going to do either. I'm simply pointing out that your talking point is false propaganda.

It also absolves the party from accountability for fielding poor candidates, running bad campaigns, and not directly, aggressively addressing election fraud in congress. It's convenient to have a scapegoat outside the party. Scapegoating 3rd party candidates infers: "It's all those 3rd party candidates and voters that STOLE what is rightfully ours; they OWE us their votes" rather than "It's our job to earn the votes, including those outside our own party."

This sort of absolution pretty much guarantees future losses, since it doesn't address the reasons why the party isn't winning those votes. It's not only false propaganda, it's FOOLISH propaganda, if the goal is to earn the votes.

17. The Freepers like Nader
They supported him with campaign funds in the 2000 election --- unlike any other liberal, in the history of liberalism.
